CHAI Ethiopia is currently working in the following programs: Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH), HIV Access, Lab Services, Vaccines, Child Survival/Essential Medicine program, Assistive Technology, NTDs, and Health Financing. 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Under the supervision and guidance of the Program Managers, the: National Private Health Facilities Partnership Officer will provide both management and technical support to the MOH, MCAHS-LEO /ISD and regions implementation of immunization strategic planning and execution and other routine immunization activities. The National Private Health Facilities Partnership Officer will plan, implement and monitor the CHAI special support of immunization program project activities in their respective areas of assignment to improve the performance of the immunization program and immunization supply chain activities to transform vaccine delivery and improve immunization services in the regions. The National Private Health Facilities Partnership Officer expected to submit monthly reports on the implementation and monitoring of the above activities to MOH, MCAHS-LEO /ISD and SPM/PM.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Support the MOH EPI LO to plan, implementation and implement the strengthening partnerships with private sector actors, including professional associations, to reach zero-dose, under-immunized children and missed communities. 

  • Establish and/or continue partnerships with private sector actors, including professional associations, to reach zero-dose, under-immunized children and missed communities. 

  • Support the strengthening public private partnership for immunization through follow-up support, scale up, improve quality, document and disseminate best practices, 

  • Support identification of bottlenecks and gaps, including gender-based barriers in RI service delivery by private/NGO/Missionary HFs in big cities (including Adama, Bahir Dar, Hawassa, Dire Dawa) 

  • Support MOH EPI LO on PHFs follow-up support, scale up Addis Ababa City experience to other big cities, improve quality service at PHFs, document and disseminate best practices from PHFs activities implementation; identification of bottlenecks and gaps, including gender-based barriers in RI service delivery by private/NGO/Missionary health facilities in big cities

  • Support during the trainings on the revised IIP for Health Care workers of private HFs (PHFs)/NGO/Missionary HFs in selected big Cities (including but not limited to Addis Ababa, Hawassa, Dire Dawa, Bahir Dar, Mekelle, Gondar, Adama)

  • Support government to establish public private partnership forum on immunization.

  • Conduct regular supportive supervision to private HFs in targeted towns 

  • Support town health office/zonal health office to engage private HFs in EPI regular review meetings

  • Support the private health facilities to report using DHIS2.

  • Support the national immunization program (NIP) adopting national manuals, guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Terms of Reference (TORs), and training materials related to Private Partnership.

  • Support and coordinate new vaccine introduction and switch of HPV MAC, Hep-B, Malaria vaccine and yellow fever on micro-planning, logistics management, communication and monitoring.

  • Attend and coordinate meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Health and Regional Health Bureaus (RHBs), CHAI and other implementing partners; with the aim of creating resource leverage, obtaining up-to-date information and on time problem solving

  • Facilitate and organize national. regional and town level workshops, consultative meetings, review meetings a s required related with PHFs RI performance. 

  • Submit weekly and monthly reports on the implementation and monitoring of the above activities to MOH EPI LO and SPM/PM 

  • Execute any additional tasks as advised by the supervisor.

Qualification and experiences:

  • Bachelor of degree or above in health science (Public health, epidemiology, medicine, and Nursing)

  • Eight and above years of professional experience out of which five (5) years on immunization, and PHF routine immunization support and/or other health programs

  • Experience working with governments at national or subnational level

Knowledge Skills and abilities:

  • Strong relationship management, project management, and documentation skills

  • Understanding regional working language

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Power point

  • Humility and willingness to work hard in difficult conditions, patience with bureaucracy

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to set and meet and deadlines

  • Comfortable working in a diverse setting with varied cultures

Language skills:

  • Fluency in English and Amharic
