I JOB SUMMARY:

The Truck Driver is responsible for the overall management of the truck and shipments (food items, NFIs, office materials, agricultural supplies, etc.) he/she is transporting. He/she takes care of the property/commodity in her/his custody and ensures that the truck is properly maintained. She/he also document and reports on shipments completed and accidents on regular basis.

II RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Job Responsibility #1: Provide Transport Services:

• Transports CAREs cargo safely, securely and as instructed;
• Ensures truck is used for authorized purposes only and that no unauthorized cargo/passenger is transported;
• Ensures loading of goods into truck against dispatch note/s
• Ensures that the cargo/commodity is correctly placed and secures it by using ropes, chains, hooks and clamps;
• Covers commodity with canvas to avoid damage of goods;
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
• Receives orders in a professional manner and drives truck to its destination and unloads;
• Performs pre-trip and post trip plans, filling out forms daily and submitting to appropriate party

Job Responsibility #2: Vehicle Care and Safety:

• Takes responsibility for the safety of the truck assigned tools and accessories.
• Ensures that the truck is always kept clean and usable.
• Always drives truck in a safe manner, always wearing safety belt.
• Checks oil, fuel, water, tires, brakes, and other electrical systems before starting to drive the truck.
• Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing of tiers,
• Follows up maintenance need of the truck and promptly reports back to immediate supervisor.
• Makes sure that he/she drives with in the speed limits set by CARE and according to traffic laws regulations.
• Ensures possession of a valid driving license and makes sure that the license is renewed when necessary.

Job Responsibility #4: Documentation and Reporting:

• Ensure that all travel clearance and dispatch documents are timely and fully secured (from supply chain unit) before commencement of a trip. Maintain proper and safe filing of these documents while in transit.
• Manage the full and safe handover of dispatches to destination; ensure that all required confirmation of safe receipt of dispatch is secured from final delivery officer/person.
• Reports safety and security incidents timely to the CO Safety and Security Team and his/her supervisor
• Maintains the daily truck log by legibly recording in English at all trip times, mileage, and destinations.

IIV QUALIFICATIONS (KNOW HOW)

A EDUCATION/TRAINING

Required:

• Completion of 12^th Grade and 4^th grade driving license.

Desired:

• Vocational School Diploma in Auto Mechanics and 5^th grade driving license.

B EXPERIENCE

Required:

• At least 4 year experience in truck driving.

Desired:

• Training in defensive driving and auto mechanic background

C Technical Skill

Required:

• Good spoken English.
• Trustworthy and reliable.
• Valid driving license and good driving record.
• Good mental and physical fitness and willingness to work under pressure.
• Long working hours and frequent field travel.
• Basic mechanical skill to be able to do small repairs when necessary.
• Firm belief in teamwork, and gender equality

Desired:

• Skill in off-road driving skills.

V CONTACTS/KEY RELATIONS

• The Truck Driver will have working relation with the Fleet Operation Administrator and other related staff in order to provide driving/transport services and maintain the health of the vehicle.

• The Truck Driver is based in Head Office, with frequent field travel.
