Job Description

Mahibere Hiwot for Social Development (MSD) is a non-governmental and non-profit making organization founded in October 1999. Since its establishment, MSD has been implementing different programs in collaboration with partners on providing broad range of HIV prevention, care and treatment services and Sexual and Reproductive health (SRH), Migration & Trafficking, Good Governance, Education and Child Development in different parts of the country.

MSD is a child safe organization and all successful applicants will be required to sign the Safeguarding Code of Conduct. The safety and wellbeing of children and at-risk adults are priorities of MSD. The organization provides a safe environment in all its programs and activities. Project Summary

The project entitled Multi-year Protracted Crisis Ethiopia Joint Responses (2024-2026) is an integrated project that consists of WASH, Protection, FSL, Health and MPC sectors financed by the Dutch relief alliance. The objective of this project is to provide complimentary multi-sectoral and integrated lifesaving humanitarian support to conflict and/or drought affected people in need - both displaced and non-displaced, in the target locations, prioritizing the most vulnerable population, and facilitate early recovery and resilience of communities, while ensuring that that gender, protection, accountability to affected populations (AAP), and prevention from sexual exploitation abuse and harassment (PSEAH) are well integrated across the different service.

Job Summary:

As a Project Coordinator, your primary role will involve providing essential support in the planning, execution, and monitoring of various humanitarian projects across different field locations at Wagehemera, Sekota. Collaborating closely with the Humanitarian Project ManagerField and other team members, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless implementation of project activities, optimizing the use of resources, and delivering timely reports on project progress.

In this position, you will be tasked with coordinating project logistics, liaising with stakeholders, tracking project timelines, and facilitating communication among team members to guarantee the successful completion of humanitarian initiatives. Your responsibilities will also include assisting in budget management, monitoring project risks, and contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of project operations.

As a Project Coordinator, you will be instrumental in fostering strong relationships with partners, beneficiaries, and local communities to promote transparency, accountability, and sustainability in project delivery. Your role will require a combination of organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a deep commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts aimed at making a positive impact on vulnerable populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing project plans, setting timelines, and monitoring project progress against established objectives.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to identify resource needs and assist in budget preparation.
  • Coordinate with field staff and partners to support the implementation of project activities according to the project plan.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination among project team members to achieve project milestones.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities to assess project impact and identify areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to the preparation of regular project reports, including documenting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Facilitate communications with local communities, government authorities, and partner organizations as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Assist in organizing community meetings, workshops, and other engagement activities to ensure community participation and feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of project activities, expenditures, and other relevant documentation.
  • Support the timely submission of project documentation to donors, partners, and headquarters.
  • Provide administrative support for project-related activities, such as scheduling meetings, coordinating logistics, and managing project documentation.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Development, Social Sciences, Project Management).
  • Prior experience in project coordination or related roles within the humanitarian or development sector.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in challenging field environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and project management tools is highly desirable.
