Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Qualified Innovation Manager to join our IDH.

We are excited to be searching for a proactive and pragmatic Innovation Manager to lead Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) for IDH projects in Ethiopia under the Value Chain Transformation Business Unit (VCT BU).

Our Value Chain Transformation Business Unit (VCT BU) contributes to IDHs overall vision and mission and the impact themes of Better Jobs, Better Incomes and Better Environment. Through a business-led approach, programs in VCT BU support the transformation of African food value chains into economically viable, inclusive, and resilient value chains that contribute to improved food and nutrition security, create local economic value and support increased local and regional trade. VCT BU is implementing new programs in East Africa and seeking dynamic and driven individuals to complement the existing team.

Your role

The MEL advisor leads the monitoring, evaluation and learning of the Growing Together program. She/he is responsible for aligning the theory of change of projects to the program change logic, guiding the results measurement framework, and leading data collection and management. This role influences the reporting integrity of the program by overseeing the accuracy of validity of data and information collected, processed, and presented for program steering and results measurement. It guides and supports the program managers on the processes of data collection which impacts the accountability relationship that IDH and the program will have with its implementing partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inform design/refinement of the theory of change (ToC) of the learning framework at the project level to align with the program change logic in consultation with the team.
  • Set up a system to collect and maintain data on Theory of Change indicators, coordinate data collection, perform quality checks, and aggregate data.
  • Guide collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to answer learning questions formulated in the learning framework based on ToC at the program level.
  • Report to the donor on indicator performance, achievement of ToC and key learnings.
  • Collaborate with the program team, Business analytics team, and IDHs Intelligence Centre to collect quantitative and qualitative data and ensure it is linked with the centrally held database for insights.
  • Produce and contribute to knowledge products including blogs, case studies, animations, presentations etc. in consultation with the program team.
  • Disseminate tailored insights to the different stakeholders of the programme during events and through using IDH Intelligence LinkedIn page and the Farm Fit Insights Hub.

Job Requirements

What you bring

  • At least 7 years of experience with monitoring and evaluation, preferably in private sector led food security or environmental programs.
  • A masters degree (or bachelors degree with relevant experience) in business, statistics, M&E economics, agricultural economics, or any other relevant field of study.
  • Understanding of business strategy and program design with a good grasp of strategy in monitoring business and program performance.
  • Skills in qualitative and quantitative research with experience in guiding a program team on data collection and analysis.
  • Data skills coupled with strong analytical and data visualization with experience working with data processing software like Power BI and Tableau.
  • Good advisory skills and you can share your expertise and feedback in a compelling and influential manner, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to network and build relationships with the team, investors, and SMEs.
  • Flexible, entrepreneurial a team player and willing to travel.

Who you are

You have analytical thinking with curiosity and attention to detail to understand the stories behind data. You possess research skills in designing data collection tools, coordinating evaluation, and actual data collection in the field. And report writing and presentation skills to tailor and deliver information to different audiences for optimal impact.
