About the Organization

The Well in Action (TWA) is an Ethiopian Resident Charity Organization. TWA intervention in Ethiopia is to contribute to sustainable improvement of living conditions of the small holder farmers and deprived people. This can be achieved by performing projects which focus on improving agricultural productivity, and stimulating entrepreneurship that are implemented both in rural and urban contexts.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating, implementing and technically support gender and youth engagement and safeguarding component within the cluster intervention Woredas. It will be required to provide support and advice on gender and youth engagement and safeguarding and implementations in the cluster. Coordinate the clusters gender and youth engagement and safeguarding activities and be responsible for organizing and delivering training and awareness-raising sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate cluster level gender and youth engagement initiatives.
  • Delivering trainings to cluster staffs on safeguarding.
  • Technically support and strengthen engagement of young people.
  • Proactively works with other cluster team members of the program and partners to ensure the safe and meaningful engagement of female and young people.
  • Ensure TWA Ethiopia safeguarding policy is familiarized among the cluster staff.
  • Work with MaYEA Gender, Youth engagement and safeguarding lead and TWA focal person install safeguarding on installing safeguarding cases reporting system and functioning of the system.
  • Aware TWA person Child and Youth Safeguarding Guideline for the cluster staffs.
  • Ensure that the 80% the MaYEA program beneficiaries at cluster level are young women.
  • Provide technical backstopping to program officers on the theme.
  • Supporting youth groups to build capacity and implement strategies on safeguarding and gender.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare gender and safeguarding related reports for the Cluster coordinator and Gender, Youth engagement and safeguarding lead.
  • Conduct other activities as deemed necessary.

Job Requirements

Education

  • B.A. degree in Law, Gender, sociology, psychology, social work or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Experience

  • Minimum of 7/5 years with relevant experience respectively.
  • Experience in community mobilization.
  • Experience in NGO.
  • Extensive experience of gender and youth engagement and safeguarding in development setting.
  • Experience at providing advice, developing, and delivering on keeping female and young people safe on a diverse range of issues and to a diverse audience.
  • Experience of working with youth.

Skills

  • Professional technical skill associated with coordination.
  • Communication skill
  • Proficiency in English Amharic and Tigrigna, both verbal and written and Tigrigna is mandatory;
  • Computer proficiency
  • Knowledge of Government development plans and policies on Safeguarding and Child Protection
  • Demonstrate Gender and safeguarding sensitivity in all responsibilities
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mind-sets.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to Link Community Development values and Safeguarding Policy.
  • Training and facilitation skills.
  • Good report writing skill.
  • Advanced computer skills
