About the Organization

The Well in Action (TWA) is an Ethiopian Resident Charity Organization. TWA intervention in Ethiopia is to contribute to sustainable improvement of living conditions of the small holder farmers and deprived people. This can be achieved by performing projects which focus on improving agricultural productivity, and stimulating entrepreneurship that are implemented both in rural and urban contexts.

Job Purpose / Summary

The Apiculture Development Officer is responsible for implementing its respective Cluster Mass Youth Employment in Apiculture (MaYEA) Program apiculture development in selected Woredas in the region. He / She will work within the wider MaYEA program team and other TWA staff. He / She is accountable to the respective cluster program. Moreover, he/she is responsible for the follow-up of the MaYEA activities of the Cluster.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the cluster officers as well as other stakeholders in their effort to properly implement the MaYEA program with the required quality.
  • Ensures quality of program delivery and efficacy of the program resources allocated for apiculture development and establishes and maintains close working relationships with relevant program staff of stakeholders at the regional, zonal and woreda level with regard to MaYEA program.
  • Ensures all program resources of the apiculture development are effectively and properly utilized for better impact and fulfillment of the program objectives.
  • Nurture and demonstrate team spirit to create and sustain a work environment of mutual respect that motivates program staff to deliver more.
  • Ensure all activities of the apiculture development component of the cluster.
  • Support of the cluster coordinator, prepare detailed annual implementation plans of the apiculture development components.
  • Ensure records of the MaYEA are well kept, consolidated cluster-level ad-hoc, quarterly, and annual reports are timely produced and communicated to all concerned.
  • Ensure apiculture development component stakeholder, partners, and program participants have access to reflect on interventions of MaYEA.
  • Build the capacity of the cluster team.
  • Provide technical support for key stakeholders of MaYEA in the cluster and collaborate and coordinate with cluster officers and government counterparts to technically support Woreda officers.

Job Requirements

Education

  • BA/MA/BSC/MSC and above in Agriculture (Animal Science, Animal Production, Apiculture) and closely related fields.

Experience

  • A minimum of 6 years experience for BA and 4 years for MA, position of direct in Apiculture related projects.
  • Experience in programs related to livelihood development, agribusiness development, marketing and value chain, youth employment, and inclusive development at higher capacity

Skills

  • Technical skills related to bee management.
  • Professional technical skill associated with coordination.
  • Communication skill;
  • Proficiency in English, Amharic and Tigrigna both verbal and written and Tigrigna is mandatory;
  • Computer proficiency;
  • Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality, participatory approach and sustainable development.
  • Motor bike driving License
