The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Ethiopia is looking to hire an experienced, highly motivated and qualified person to fill the position ofWorkshop Manager, based in Addis Ababa.
Terms of Employment: Fixed term contract until December 2024 with possibility of extension based on budget availability.
PURPOSE
Workshop Manager 2 oversees preventive maintenance and ensures that repairs on ICRC vehicles and other logistics equipment are made in accordance with guidelines issued from headquarters and manufacturers recommendations.
GENERAL DUTIES

Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times
Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times
Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers
Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC
May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary
Function description:
Maximizes fleet efficiency and effectiveness through planned resource allocation and preventive maintenance together with the Vehicle Fleet Manager or Logistician.
Provides and organizes training for fleet staff on technical aspects (diagnostics, repairs, maintenance techniques), transfer of technology, proper use of diagnostic and other electronic equipment, tools and machinery, and ICRC administrative procedures.
Helps the Mechanics with complex diagnostics and technical problems for vehicles and generators and suggests solutions.
Is accountable for all maintenance and repair work performed in the workshop and for the material used.
Operates and maintains the Fleetwave Centralize (FWC) software system, electronic logbook, electronic spare parts catalogue, etc., as required.
Establishes and updates job cards based on maintenance history for all vehicles and other logistics equipment and provides reports and statistics.
Sets stock levels for spare parts and consumables in accordance with activity levels; takes part in placing orders for spare parts and equipment as required.
Ensures that risks are mitigated by performing the controls assigned to his/her role as described in the Logistics Risk and Control Matrix
Manages the holidays, over time, shifts and workload of the workshop team.
To ensure that security, safety, and legal requirements are observed by all ICRC employees in all workshop areas.
Carries out administrative activities independently, manages all documents entering to FWC and filling related to all vehicle and generators.
Draw up weekly and monthly service schedules for implementation
Check vehicles and generators after repairs or service to ensure that all jobs have been done to expectation.
To make sure that local purchased lubricants/spare parts for maintenance are genuine.
In liaison with VFM prepares order for spare parts from GVA or from local market in case of urgency.
Fills in all accidents, services, battery, and tyres change in vehicles technical logbook.
To make sure that all ICRC trucks and vehicles are ready to move at any time.
To assist car dispatcher when he is reporting for any small issues after morning check-up and ensures that vehicles are going to field are roadworthy.
Administrative & Finance
Participates in planning and preparing annual budget for the workshop; follows up closely during implementation.
Holds and controls workshop working advance / workshop pity cash.
Ensures necessary administrative work is implemented on time.
Knows, applies and complies with all the administrative procedures (financial and HR such as appraisals, budget follow up, etc)
Keeps workshop files and relevant databases up to date at all times.
Accident Management:
After getting information concerning accident, sources quotations for accident damaged vehicles and to report concerned.
Make an appointment with car dispatch for accident repairing.
Checks the quality of repair work done on accident damaged vehicles.
To issue a job card for repaired accidents on vehicles and forward update the crash record accordingly.
Field Activities:
To support filed mechanics and to visit all ICRC sub delegations and offices for vehicle, forklifts and generator maintenance issues when needed.
In case of breakdown in the field to be ready to visit and solve the problem in the place.
I n case of need/emergency to replace or to give a hand to Colleagues, from other departments too.
Inventory
Participate in regular general inventory counts and reconcile with bin cards and stock-card.
Taking active support role in the yearly or Ad Hoc formal inventory
Others
Informing to VFM for any issues that does not follow the normal routines
Replacing the Fleet Data admin. in one or all his duties during his absence
Organize and helps cleaning tools, workshop and compound when needed
Performs weekly and monthly controls of equipment, tools and logbooks
Helpful attitude and Team spirit
Flexibility and willingness to work irregular schedules.
Copping up with stressful working situation.
Drives vehicle when requested.
Job Requirements
Technical school degree in mechanical engineering or similar.
Good command (spoken and written) of English and Amharic /or French.
Very good computer skills and ability to run specialized software.
Driving license Grade 3 or Equivalent, Grade 4 & 5 or Equivalent is an advantage.
6 years overall professional experience.
Minimum three years' confirmed experience as a foreman/forewoman in the automotive
industry or 46 years' experience in a similar position as a mechanic.
Experience managing a team.
Helpful attitude and Team spirit
Flexibility and willingness to work irregular schedules.
Resistant to stressful situations.
Drives vehicle when requested.
