Background
Founded in 1975, Chemonics International Inc. (Chemonics), is a US-based international development consulting company, operating in over 75 countries worldwide. Chemonics was recently awarded the five-year, $44.9 million USAID-funded Urban Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project in Ethiopia. The purpose of this Activity will be to support accelerated access to safe, adequate, inclusive, and resilient WASH services targeting urban and peri-urban areas. The Activity will work to achieve this through four complementary objectives:
- Enable and professionalize WASH service providers;
- Foster markets for pro-poor and inclusive WASH services;
- Strengthen WASH planning, budgeting, and service delivery oversight; and
- Strengthen accountability among urban WASH sector actors.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The project driver is responsible for driving and maintaining the project vehicle. The driver works in the operation department and reports to the HR and Admin Assistant, who is responsible for coordinating the drivers assignment and supervising the drivers work.
- Drive assigned project vehicle daily, as assigned and/or preapproved by supervisor; including on schedule field trips, project-related trips within post and specify other cities, and other driving assignments as required.
- Ensure cleanliness of assigned vehicle
- Check assigned vehicle weekly to ensure that it is operational and safe to drive. One a weekly basis, check the oil, radiator, fan belt, brake fluid, wipers, tires, lights, and signals.
- Initiate and supervise any repairs required on assigned vehicles with supervisors approval.
- Initiate and supervise routine periodic maintenance of assigned project vehicles, including oil and filter changes, tune-ups, and professional cleaning by high-pressure hose based on the manufacturers instructions on optimum maintenance requirements.
- Fulfill project reporting requirements and maintain records, including vehicle logs, vehicle routing, and vehicle condition!
- Ensure passenger safety by obeying traffic laws, driving carefully, and ensuring each person in the vehicle wears a seatbelt.
- Other duties as assigned.
Location of Assignment
- This position will be based in the projects Hawassa, Ethiopia office with some travel to the projects regional offices anticipated.
