Job Description

COMUNITA VOLONTARI PER IL MONDO (CVM)is an Italy based international NGO re- registered with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Agency for Civil Society Organization as Foreign organization under Certificate number 0941 in accordance with the Civil Society Organizations Proclamation number 1113/2019 to operate in Ethiopia.CVM is active with various projects indefense of orphaned and vulnerable children,domestic workers and maids,minorities,HIV positive and AIDS patients.Moreover, it works toguarantee the increase in the availability of waterfor drinking and agricultural purposesand for theincrease in sanitation.

CVM-Ethiopia is currently looking for an interested and qualified candidate for a position of Social Projects Coordinator who has experience in managing staff and coordinating projects related to domestic workers rights and empowerment, promotion of safe migration and protection of street children.

1) Project design, coordination and management

1.1 Coordinate the overall planning, implementation, Monitor and Evaluation of the Social projects in Addis Ababa and Branch Offices.

1.2 Participating in new projects data collection, budgeting, concept note and proposal write-up process

2) Project planning and implementation

2.1 Developing and Supervision of Social Project Local Agreement that CVM have in place in Ethiopia, keeping the original and ensuring a dedicated folder in the A.A. Office

2.2 Develop PoAs (Plan of Action) on annual and monthly bases for CVM social projects

2.3 Organize the implementation process of all set targets planned for each activity with respective project facilitators and partners

2.4 Ensure that all the staff have updated monthly and quarterly implementation plans

2.5 Supervise and implement activities at Regional Level in Ethiopia according to the nature of Social Projects implemented by CVM

2.6 Provide technical input and back up to the projects team and partners for timely implementation

2.7 Continuously assesses the projects context, assumptions and changes in the working environment to ensure that the project focus, strategies and activities remain relevant and to propose adjustments when needed.

2.8 In collaboration with the finance section track programs spending, analyse deviations and suggest and take corrective actions as needed

3) Project monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting

3.1 Analyze and monitor on monthly bases Social projects PoAs, ensure all social projects are within plans developed and provide support to staff supervised

3.2 Plan monthly review meetings to assess progress, adjust plans and disseminates lessons learned with the staff and consortium

3.3 Facilitate midterm and terminal evaluation of the project for the project signatories and the donor

3.4 Facilitate the preparation of quarter and annual governments reports and submitted to his/her immediate supervisor

3.5 Quarterly monitoring visits to all projects in Branch offices

3.6 Prepare quarterly, biannual and annual reports for donors according to Donors format

4) Projects staff management

4.1 Immediate supervisor and manager of Social Project Facilitators in CVM Branch offices and in Addis Ababa Office

4.2 Supervises, leads, guides, orients, trains, coaches and supports the projects facilitators

4.3 Builds the technical and managerial capacity of the social project facilitators

4.4 Ensures that all the Social project facilitators have appropriate individual weekly plans linked to the project precedence

4.5 Provides ongoing feedback to project staff, recognizing and praising successes and pointing out failures that need corrective action

5) Project Budget, Logistics and Procurement Management

5.1 In collaboration with the finance section prepares annual budget based on project proposals and ensures compliance with donor requirements

5.2 Take part in the monthly budget expenditure and ensures appropriate utilization of the allocated budget

5.3 Ensure timely financial reporting is done and shared with the donor and government signatories

5.4 In collaboration with the logistics officer prepare monthly logistic plan and update when needed

5.5 Prepare and update the quarter and annual procurement plan

6) Partnership, Networking management

6.1 Facilitate the social projects related agreements documents including TORs, MOUs and other partnership agreements

6.2 Build strong relationships with the regional and local government authorities and arrange regular progress review meeting

6.3 Promote and maintain effective partnerships with projects partners, stakeholders and beneficiaries

6.4 Contribute to public communication while supporting strong and positive CVM social projects as well as CVM visibility

Job Requirements

  • BA/MA/MSC/MBA in Project Management
  • Five (5) years and Seven (7) years relevant experience in management roles for MA and BA holders respectively.
  • Experience in managing teams, strong coordination skills.
  • Strong experience with PCM, ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and effective communication skills
  • Energetic, thoughtful and committed approach to the job
  • Experience with working with diversified teams including expatriates.
  • Competent in using computers, operating Excel, Word, Outlook, online meeting platforms and other systems.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic languages.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive and professional attitude, able to organize and prioritize work under pressure, able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.

Additional requirements:

  • Detail-oriented and comfortable both building out and enforcing processes and procedures for financial and administrative functions.
  • Great analytical skills in budget development and financial management.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies in administrative functions and problem-solve in a prompt manner.
  • Ability to hold oneself and staff accountable to agree upon processes and procedures.
  • High degree of ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters.

Preference will be given to:

A candidate who has proven experience working with safer migration and domestic workers projects and/or marginalized communities and a track record of implementing development programs with strong communication, implementation and monitoring.

  • University degree in Sociology, Social work and psychology.
  • 3-5 years of experience in safer migration and decent work projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in managing Domestic and local migrant workers programs
