Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director is the chief executive officer and legal representative of Nazareth School (NS). She/he gives direction and leadership toward achievement of the schools mission, strategy and its annual goals and objectives. In consultation with the Board of Trustees and the staff, she/he develops annual implementation plans and budget; accomplishes the plan and ensures that an appropriate monitoring system is in place.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Responsibility1: Planning Functions
  • Responsible for overall development and implementation of policies, goals, plans and strategies of the School as approved by the Board of Trustees;
  • Coordinates the formulation of the School's short, medium and long-term objectives and overall policies, rules, regulations and guidelines based on the mission and goals of the School
  • Coordinates the preparation of the annual work plan and budget and submits to the Board of Trustees for its approval;
  • Provides information to parents in the creation of policies, regulations and educational programs of the School;
  • Ensures that planning and implementing instructional programs and arrangements
  • meeting the curriculum needs of the School are in harmony with the Catholic Church's policies, guidelines and the Government requirements.
Job Responsibility 2: Educational Management Functions
  • Represents the school on official matters; attends workshops, seminars, and conferences on educational and administrative matters and reports to the Board of Trustees;
  • Ensures that all acti\/ities are executed per approved work plan and program;
  • Ensures clear management, lines of authority and supervision are in place so that effective delegation of authority and responsibility and appropriate functioning of work units exists in a transparent, accountable and participatory manner;
  • Ensures that school physical facilities are improved through repair and construction of new facilities;
  • Approve disciplinary measures and sanctions recommended by concerned supervisors or committees;
  • Ensures that students who require special need education are accepted by the School;
  • Ensures that continuous evaluation and examinations are properly given to students and results are recorded, kept and distributed to the concerned;
  • Follows up that students, teachers, and other employees are properly supervised; laboratories and libraries and other educational centers are providing services to students.

Job Responsibility 3: Financial and Administrative Functions

  • Carefully manages organization's budget to ensure effective and efficient utilization of budget;
  • Oversees implementation of performance monitoring of human resource;
  • Ensures the effective implementation of the human resource development plan in line with the direction of the school;
  • Ensures efficient and cost effective operations of all functions of the School;
  • Ensures that School's assets are properly managed and safeguarded;
  • Ensures that administrative policies, procedures and guidelines are properly implemented and followed up by all staff;
  • Approves administrative and financial requests within the power delegated to her/him by the Board of trustees and policies and regulations of the School;
  • Ensures that recruitment, placement, training, salary increment, promotion, transfer, termination and disciplinary measures are excuted in accordance with the rules and regulations stipulated in the Human Resource Development Manual of the School;
  • Signs contracts on behalf of the School; also signs cheques with other delegated staff.
Job Responsibility 4: Staff Management
  • Directs, supervises, leads, guides, coaches and supports the staff responsible to her/him;
  • Evaluates the performance of staff directly accountable to her/him;
  • Assesses staff development needs and provides training, coaching and mentoring or other activities to increase technical and management skills of employees;
  • Ensures the realization of team spirit, participatory decision-making process, gender sensitivity and balance, cost effectiveness, staff motivation and spirit of dedication at all levels.
Job Responsibility 5:Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Takes the lead responsibility for ensuring that the Sc' oo!'s monitoring and evaluation systems are participatory, effective and responsive to the School members and other stakeholders, and incorporates lessons learned;
  • Oversees the development of monitoring and evaluation plan of the different programs of the School and implementation as per the plan made;
  • Establishes and maintains relationship and co-operation with government and other stakeholders to build the image of the School and at same time win credibility;
  • Implements Board and audit recommendations related to the School;
  • Ensures regular participatory review and reflection processes are conducted with the School community and other stakeholders under all educational programs.
Job Responsibility 6: Representation and Reporting
  • Represents the School in external matters with private, government and non- government organizations locally and internationally; Ensures periodic and regular comprehensive and high quality financial utilization and activity progress reports
  • are produced and submitted to the Board of Trustees and concerned institutions;
  • Facilitate and ensure that financial statement at the company is audited and submitted to the Board and concerned institutions:
  • Ensures that information on the School and on its operation and experiences are documented.
Job Responsibility 7: Other
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Board of Trustees.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/TRAINING
  • MA/BA in Educational Planning and Management or related field.
EXPERIENCE
  • 6/8 years of work experience in relevant field.

TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills;
  • Computer proficiency;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality;
  • Ability to plan, organize and initiate action;
  • Follow school policies and guidelines at all times;
  • Be fully supportive of the mission, vision and the philosophy of the school;
  • Ability to monitor information and work under stress;
  • Follow school policies and guidelines at all times.
Minimum requirements:
  • Excellent computer skills (e.g. MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point);
  • BA in Business Administration Or relation fields;
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in an international setting;
  • Excellent English both verbal and written language skills;
  • Knowledge of German is considered an asset;
  • Experience in development cooperation is considered an asset
