Pepsico/ Senselet Food Processing is a potato processing company in Ethiopia producing potato chips. It has been set up in accordance with European standards and knowledge and produces high quality potato crisps, branded as Sun Chips, that are sold locally in the Ethiopian market.
About the Role:
Environmental controller Coordinate and oversee environment related compliance to the GEHSMS and national legislation that are applicable to all PEPSICO operations and implement PEPSICOs initiatives towards improving environmental management.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the EHS Manager in the implementation, development and monitoring of the EHS policies and procedures to achieve objectives, targets and maintain compliance to GEHSMS.
- Assess potential environmental risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs.
- Coordinate and oversee that industrial operations are in compliance with local, state changing regulations.
- Ensure the Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with ISO14001.
- Keep up with all compliance issues changes to environmental policies and regulations, as well as local and federal laws and regulations connected to the environment.
- Prepare, submit and track regulatory filings for licenses & permits.
- Active participation in developing, maintain, reviewing and continual improvement of EHS systems and producers (SSOW, SWPs, SOPsetc.) and follow pending actions.
- Maintain complete and clear documentations for environmental operations for reference purposes.
- Oversees air emissions and air quality risk assessment and manages implementation of controls.
- Identify areas of improvements to reduce environmental damages and wastes.
- Studying relevant data to identify potential environmental issues.
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information on leading and lagging indicators to management.
- Conducting regular meetings and reports progress to site leadership regarding non-compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Initiate, provide and/or facilitate regular training based on the training need.
- Conducts behavioral safety observations and provide support to develop site BS program.
- Ensure wastewater treatment plant discharge compliance via daily laboratory analysis and interpret the implication of the analysis result.
- Support and assist utility team in assuring the compliance of wastewater operations.
- Perform regular inspections of facilities and programs to ensure organizational compliance with environmental regulations. Ensures completion of inspections and testing where applicable.
