Job Description

Job Purpose
Wide Horizons For Children (WHFC) is a child focused, Community/Family empowering, international humanitarian and development organization dedicated to the well being orphan and vulnerable children. WHFC started its operation in Ethiopia since 2023. The organization envisions a world where every child has the opportunity to grow up in a loving, healthy and stable family, and not only survive but thrive. WHFCs intervention focus on empowering families to improve their ability to care for their children.

Job Summary
WHFC Ethiopia has established regional office station in Hawassa that will be overseen by a Program Area Coordinator Sidama responsible for providing leadership and coordination for WHFC Sidama program operations and represent the organization in the implementation of the program at regional, zonal and woreda levels. S/he will be leading the implementation of all technical activities at the regional level while providing oversight to the day-to-day program operations. The program area coordinator will be providing coordination, guidance and technical support to staff in the program area and conduct periodic monitoring visits to project sites.

Duties and Responsibilities
Program Management and Coordination
  • Overall coordination and management of WHFC Ethiopia Sidama program area in accordance with policies and guidelines of the organization.
  • Oversee all activities grant, procurement, logistics, HR and IT functions of the program area coordination office.
  • Responsible for data collection and submission to the main office.
  • Oversee and coordinate local partners, sub-contracts, and activity implementation and reporting.
  • Lead and ensure the effective execution of WHFCs child welfare and livelihood improvements in his/her program area.
  • Align project work plans and activities with WHFCs country program objectives, strategic plan priorities.
  • Ensure that quality Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) for program and budgets are prepared and submitted to WHFC country office in a timely manner
  • Coordinate and work closely with regional government and district (woreda) level government for technical implementation of WHFC activities.
  • Ensure that regional support needs are clearly identified to the head office.
  • Supervise and support technical and operational staff in the field, including coordination in the preparation process of budget and work plan development and activities implementation, monitoring of activities and progress.
  • Continually monitor field travel and day-to-day risk assessment in the region.
  • Create a conducive and productive work environment for project staff, including access to technical, material and budgetary support necessary to deliver their jobs.
  • provision of the respective financial information to the country Director.
  • Ensure that regular projects planning, and review sessions are conducted involving project partners.
  • Foster partnerships and networking with likeminded NGOs and other stakeholders operating in the program area.
  • Support the external communications and fundraising efforts of WHFC Ethiopias country program
  • Coordinate the identification and gathering to validate compelling case studies, success stories, and data related to the impact and outcomes of the program.
  • Represent WHFC at conferences and workshops, share the projects best practices, and build relationships with potential partners, donors, and stakeholders,
Financial Management
  • In cooperation with the Finance team, responsible for financial management of the project direct costs.
  • Reviews and approves key project documentation in a timely manner to facilitate financial payments to vendors, beneficiaries, cash transfer agents, etc.
  • Leads the development and monthly updating of budget vs. actual (drawing) forecasts for project activities and staffing to ensure accurate and timely financial management, flagging potential over/under spending to program director.
  • In cooperation with Finance Officer, ensures that project procurement planning is integrated into the project work plan and tracked regularly, all procurement-related documentation is properly processed by the project team; project logistical needs are communicated and planned. Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experiences
  • MA/MSC Degree or BA/BSC Degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience (for MA holders) and 8 years work experience ( for BA holders).
  • At list 5 years of demonstrable experience in project coordination or area level project management position in the NGO sector, particularly in the areas of child and family development is an advantage.
  • Proven track record in project management, the designing, implementation, supervising and reporting on integrated development projects.
  • Demonstrated skills in building, mobilizing and leading multidisciplinary teams with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using information communication technologies and devices
  • Proven experience and proficiency in writing standard periodic reports and M&E
  • Excellent analytical abilities and interpersonal communication skills with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong attention to details and contexts
  • Ability to work independently, multitask oriented and as part of a team in a fast-paced working environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written fluency required, understanding of local context and language.
