Quality Control Expert (m/f)

sequa gGmbH is a globally operating non-profit development organisation. Since 1991 sequa has carried out programmes and projects of international cooperation in close collaboration with the German private sector. sequa offers know-how and long-term experience in capacity development for chambers and associations (BMOs), vocational education and training, private sector development and trade promotion. The Project Within the GIZ Program Special Initiative "Decent Work for a Just Transition", sequa implements the "SME Grant Scheme targeting growth orientated SMEs" project in Ethiopia. With this, sequa aims to facilitate business growth and job creation of Ethiopian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by increasing their competitiveness and productivity so that their products and services will satisfy the demand on local and international markets. A specific focus will be provided for women-owned SMEs, job-creation, and employability training for women. Benefiting companies receive flexible and demand-oriented funding (management consulting, technical training, financial competence / business plan development, qualification, applied research activities, etc.). A special focus will be on advisory services to improve access to finance. The grant scheme is expected to contribute to SMEs' change management and business growth. Almakir Textiles Industry is an apparel manufacturing company located in Woreda 02, Lideta sub-city, Addis Ababa, established with a sole proprietorship form of business. The organization has established a production center of over 350 sq.m and is equipped with design, production, and printing facilities. The organization produces men's and women's casual wear, including woven shirts, polo shirts, t-shirts, and denim jackets.

The assignment's main objective is to improve product quality and establish a quality improvement system.

Your Tasks / Responsibilities:

• Measure the existing quality level of the company (DHU/defect rate, rework rate, RFT)
• Identify major defects and conduct root cause analysis for the identified defects
• Improve the existing product quality level by implementing quality improvement tools
• Implement a quality assurance system in every production process, including raw material inspection, production and finishing
• Train the quality teams on quality improvement tools, quality measurement systems, and defect analysis systems
• Develop quality recording formats

Your Qualification / Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in fashion technology, garment technology, textile engineering, Industrial engineering, or any other related field
• Intensive knowledge and skill in quality improvement tools
• Ability to think strategically and analytically
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Your Working Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in garment production, Proven experience working in the garment industry
• Experience in providing quality improvement services to garment industries.
