Job Description
Major Responsibilities:
Maintain a comprehensive and accurate register of all fixed assets owned by the school.
Record acquisitions, disposals, and changes in the status of fixed assets in the financial records.
Ensure proper classification and categorization of fixed assets following accounting standards.
Calculate and record depreciation expenses for fixed assets based on accounting policies and
standards.
Perform periodic reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of fixed asset balances.
Reconcile property stock cards with the fixed asset register to identify discrepancies or errors.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
Update property stock cards to reflect changes in asset status, location, or other relevant
information.
Participate in the annual physical inventory count of fixed assets.
Collaborate with other departments to organize and conduct the inventory process.
Identify and report discrepancies or issues discovered during the inventory count.
Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and update records.
Prepare reports summarizing inventory count results and communicate findings to management.
Follow asset tagging processes to physically identify and track fixed assets.
Reconcile the fixed asset register with general ledger accounts.
Prepare regular reports on fixed asset activities, acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal control policies related to fixed
assets.
Assess and record impairments of fixed assets when necessary.
Record gains or losses on disposal of fixed assets in accordance with accounting standards.
Maintain proper documentation and supporting evidence for disposal transactions.
Assist in forecasting future capital expenditures and depreciation expenses.
Cooperate with external auditors during financial audits.
Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Prepare audit schedules related to fixed assets and provide support to auditors.
Continuously review and improve fixed asset accounting processes and procedures.
Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
6-8 years of experience in fixed asset accounting or a related field.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP.
Proficiency in financial software applications and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate across departments and work as part of a team.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Adaptable and open to process improvements.
Self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work overtime or respond to emergencies as needed.
