Education for Ethiopia Foundation is a local non-governmental organization that aims to bring digital education to Ethiopian students to support their educational performance. We are seeking to hire finance head responsible for managing the financial and administration operations of our organization.
Duties and Responsibilities.
Finance and Accounting
- Participate in the developing the overall financial goals and objectives of Education for Ethiopia Foundation
- Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets.
- Manage finical and administration teams to achieve Education for Ethiopias financial goals.
- Prepare accurate financial reports and periodic projections of funding needs.
- Maintain financial reporting and tracking systems that provide basic data measurements on financial performance of project activities.
- Maintain accurate and reconciled bank and petty cash accounts at all times.
- Record expenditures, income, and any other related transactions, in the books of accounts. Assist in ensuring that the books of accounts are accurate, current, and audit-ready at all times.
- Prepare and monitor payment vouchers and invoices, and corresponding checks/payments.
- Prepare payroll and other regular payments.
- Provide guidance to project personnel on financial procedures.
Human Resources
- Help maintain personnel files, including time sheets, vacation/leave monitoring, sick leave monitoring and ensuring adherence to the local labor laws.
- Coordinate the recruitment of new staff and maintenance of complete employment file.
- Orient new employees on corporate policies and benefits.
Procurement
- Support the development execution, and management of local consultant agreements. Assist with processing, maintaining files, and monitoring consultant level of effort and invoices.
- Assist in the management of subcontracts/sub-grants. Includes assisting in the preparation of scopes of work, contract administration, invoice tracking and processing, ensuring proof of receipt of deliverables, timely payment and other administrative functions.
Reports to: General Manager of Education for Ethiopia
Qualifications and Background:
- Degree in accounting, Accounting and finance or related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of related work experience;
- Attested skills in the use of Peachtree;
- Previous experiences with international NGOs and donors will be considered an asset.
Skills:
- Good knowledge on Ethiopian accounting, taxation and procurement rules/regulation.
- Creative and able to work with limited resources.
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision.
- Strong English language ability (both written and verbal) and ability to produce cohesive, informative reports.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Tools and accounting software;
- Previous related experience in INGO set up is advantageous.
- Knowledge of working area and fluency in Amharic
