Brief about EIH:

The Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) is Ethiopias first sovereign wealth fund which was established on January 31st, 2021, through the regulation The Definition of Objective Functions and Organization the Ethiopian Investment Holdings Council of Ministers Regulation No 487/2014

Its objectives are to (1) serve as a strategic investment arm of the government of Ethiopia, (2) contribute to sustainable economic development through professional management of its funds and assets achieving the optimal use thereof in accordance with international best practice and corporate governance principles, and to maximize the value for the benefit of current and future generations and to (3) provide a strategic vehicle to attract foreign investment by, among others, establishing a co-investment platform, consolidating assets for further monetization, unlocking values from current unutilized assets and thereby bring the highest. EIH manages 31 public commercial companies, with which it will exercise the ownership function of the GoE.

Basic functions and scope of the job:

The basic objective of this job position is to split operations and reporting of the finance functions. Namely preparation of payment vouchers, cheques, remittances, documentation, data entry & posting, preparation of bank reconciliations, which are being handled by a single individual, which are also not advisable from the internal control perspective.

Duties and Responsibilities of the role:

• Handles all operational functions of the finance department
• Custodianship of finance documents
• Verifies completeness of documents before processing payments
• Handles payments as per the company policies and procedure
• Timely collection of bank documents
• Assists in posting and data entry of financial transactions to financial software
• Prepares weekly reports related to his tasks and assignments
• Performs other duties assigned by his/her immediate supervisor

Qualification Required:

• B.A. Degree in Accounting
• At least three years of solid work experience in a group or commercial business environment

Competency requirements:

• Proven experience in the following as an accountant and:
• Excellent organizing abilities.
• Great attention to detail
• Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
• Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software (e.g. Sage/ Peachtree)

Language requirements: Fluency in English and Amharic is required.
