Senior Cost Accountant

KAKI PLC is an official dealer and assembler of ISUZU in Ethiopia. It is also engaged in different business lines including import, export, metal fabrication, after sales services, and cargo freight transport operations. The company wishes to employ a qualified professional for the Senior Cost Accountant position.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible of controlling costs of business operations, ensure that cost being allocated in compliance with financial accounting procedures and systems, and record, analyze and budget and cost accounting reports while ensuring company policy and procedure, and accounting principles.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in the processes of designing effective budgeting policies and procedures, and budget models for the entire company.
• Compile and organize data, and reports that will be used as input for preparing annual budget for the company business operations.
• Control Business unit and department managers to ensure that they meet budget submission deadlines.
• Work with the Cost & Budget Accounts Division Head to prepare the companys monthly budget utilization and performance report, analyses variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Analyze trends and actual budget performance for each business unit and for the company as a whole and recommend improvements.
• Work with the Cost & Budget Accounts Division Head to undertake monthly cost forecasts and guide work units to meet targets within the specified time.
• Verify accuracy of expenditure data and records included in the journals and ledgers at all times.
• Make sure that costs are correctly apportioned among multiple units of production and accounts are opened for such costs according to the cost accounting manual of the company.
• Coordinate with all concerned to prepare cost estimation for products that are considered to be unique in order to establish prices for those products and to forecast production in future.
• Work with the Cost & Budget Accounts Division Head to prepare, devise, and regulate procedures for establishing unit cost of services and products.
• Prepare periodical reports for submission to the Cost & Budget Accounts Division Head.

Qualification : BA in Finance and Accounting

Work Experience : 6 years in relevant role

Required Competence :

• Advanced skill in accounts management and strong analytical skills
• Outstanding knowledge and understanding of IFRS and other relevant laws
• Knowledge of enterprise resource planning software (ERP)
• Computer skill, written and oral communication skills, English language proficiency
