ABOUT CVM - Comunit Volontari per il mondo

Comunit Volontari per il Mondo (CVM) is a non-profit making Christian Organization based in Ancona, Italy. It was founded in 1978 and has been working in Ethiopia since 1995, focusing its work on water, hygiene, and sanitation, HIV prevention, and control through socio-health interventions, promotion of social policies and human rights, promoting social inclusion and minority rights, support for training and access to education, leather sector, socio-economic and micro-credit development, decent work for Domestic Workers and safe migration.

Summary of the position

The social worker and database expert manages individual cases taken over by the project (minors, returnees, trafficked women), liaising with the psycho-social support service, involving beneficiaries individually and directly. He/She will have knowledge of the database system as well as strong communication skills. He/she will be responsible for the reporting system, collection of data, sources, and information to feed the database.The Database expert ensures smooth data analysis and quality assurance processes.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

- Collect beneficiaries data and feed into the database system.

- Administer and manage the database management system of the organization.

- Receive beneficiaries at shelter, facilitate orientation during arrival and also reintegration orientation with other staffs

- Distribute materials to beneficiaries on their arrival and as required

- Establish smooth relationship with beneficiaries at shelter and make sure their needs are fulfilled

- Involve in family tracing of beneficiaries together with the relevant offices and facilitate family reunification

- Organizes training and orientation in Life Skills and BBS for the identified beneficiaries.

- Ensures that the training methodology is compatible with the educational level of the beneficiaries.

- Promotes the active participation of all beneficiaries during training.

- Manages emergency cases to meet the needs of minor women and girls

- Monitors the status of the beneficiaries and the implementation of the activities.

- Accompany beneficiaries to referral places eg. to the police station or medical institutions

- Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly

- Regular analysis of data and reporting

- Communicate regularly with social staff to ensure database integrity and security.

- Serves as the point person for data-related tasks.

- Sustainable Management of CVM material resources in the Area

- Analyse the business plan and the follow up on the status of the beneficiarys activities after reunification

Educational Qualifications and Skills Required:

- Bachelor's degree in social sciences; BSc Degree in Computer Science; in areas related to the project will be preferred.

- Previous experience of at least two years in social intervention work and database management

- Previous experience working with migrant women preferred.

- Strong interpersonal and empathic skills, analytical, reporting, independent and teamwork skills

- Native speaker of Amharic, excellent knowledge of spoken and written English

- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, especially Excel)

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

- Knowledge of the database system as well as strong communication skill

- Build relationships with a wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

- Ability to work independently, displaying strong initiative in solving day-to-day problems with limited direction.

- Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage, track and organize data, including numerical data.

Equal skills preference will be given to female candidates to facilitate the relationship with the beneficiaries.
