THP-E is implementing projects in rural areas of Ethiopia since 2004 and currently recruiting full time staff for the position:
Position Summary
The Partnership Building & Resource Mobilization Manager (PBRMM) is responsible for promoting and gaining support for The Hunger Project Ethiopia’s work among the global and local investors/ donors and strategic audiences. The PBRMM is responsible for the development, coordination and execution of fundraising & communication strategies that align with THP-E’s overall strategy and objectives. She/He will be accountable to the THP-E Country Manager (CM) and closely work with THP Global and Partner Offices to raise support for the organization through various fundraising channels.
Detailed Responsibilities
Planning:
- Lead the development and periodic update of the partnership building & fundraising strategy of The Hunger Project Ethiopia.
- Work with THP-E Leadership Team and develop and implement annual partnership building & fundraising plan to maximize revenue opportunities.
- Explore and provide input on funding and sector trends to ensure that THP-E is well positioned to meet its strategic plan.
- Conduct a periodic pipeline analysis and presentations to CM and THP Leadership Team to refocus on strategic financing and growth.
- Work with Country Leader to strategically identify and develop partnership with major donors and other CSOs and networks/consortia.
Fundraising:
- Identify and track relevant upcoming funding opportunities and inform relevant THP-E Leadership Team by conducting advance information gathering, partner relationships, and other available resources.
- Lead THP-E fundraising activities, coordinating with the CM, Program Manager, and relevant technical leads; and develop & submit compelling and tailored funding concepts and proposals.
- Manage open solicitations and other proposal submissions, including teaming discussions and pitching strategy, oversight of and contribution to design and cost proposal, capacity statements, and internal review/quality control processes as per set timelines.
- Implement online fundraising appeals including developing the campaign messaging with Communication & Advocacy Officer and engaging support across multiple channels.
- Support fundraising events and other individual giving activities as needed.
- Build and maintain pipeline of prospective major donors and partners.
- Ensure fundraising & communication activities are budgeted and monitor budgets and spending.
Communication, Partnership Building & Networking:
- Lead THP’s communication activities and ensure alignment and support to the partnership building and fundraising efforts.
- Establish long standing and successful relationships with key partners through conducting stakeholders mapping and developing strategies to build relationships.
- Lead the in-country stakeholder mapping, prioritization and develop strategies for networking.
- Scan the donor landscape and identify opportunities for new strategic prospects within core donor set; and support development and management of strategic partnership, in liaison with the THP-E Programs and Grant Finance and Budget Managers.
- Provide appropriate stewardship with funders with an aim of building long term funding relationships.
- Setup and support implementation of capacity-building and strengthening activities within THP-E Office, while at the same time fostering lateral learning.
- Coordinate THP-E fundraising and other partnership events as needed.
Represent THP-E interests at relevant meetings, events, and within resource mobilization or donor-specific peer networks.
Internal Collaboration & Coordination:
- Contribute to the THP’s business development database and tracking of relationships.
- Collaborate with THP’s Global and Africa Region Communications units to ensure we have effective partner journeys, care, and stewardship.
- Collaborate with Global THP and Partner Countries on creative fundraising campaigns including reactivation and upgrading campaigns.
- Work with Global THP fundraising officers to ensure we have appropriate policies, procedures, and processes in place to maximize resources and impact.
- Work with THP Global and Partner countries to re-engage past donors and partners of THP-E and keep the existing investors and partners.
- Answer emails and general inquiries from THP Global and Partner Countries and donors in relation to funding in pipeline and other partnership issues.
Reporting:
- Coordinate funding acquittals calendar and liaise with internal team to ensure to complete funding acquittals to all resource/funding partners.
- Track fundraising income, administer all fundraising data and ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Contribute to Bi-annual THP-E NAC reports on fundraising activities including pipeline and tracking against budget.
Volunteers:
- Coordinate the recruitment and manage skilled communications and marking volunteers & interns.
- Maintain pro bono support for selected activities including from knowledge institutions and THP-E NAC members.
Additional responsibilities:
- Conduct related tasks assigned by the Country Manager.
- Complete tasks on time and in accordance with expectations.
- Work constructively and collaboratively with other members of the THP Global and local team.
- Develop career goals and initiate career conversations with THPE Country Manager.
- Undertake relevant training as required and agreed with THP-E Country Manager.

Education:
- Minimum Required: Master’s degree in social sciences, development studies or any other relevant fields.
- Preferred: Master’s degree as above plus professional certification in project cycle management or proposal writing or similar skills is highly desirable.
Work Experience (Minimum needed)
- Minimum Required: six years of proven experience in the development sector, in project cycle management, business development and consortium approaches to programming, and good understanding of international government donor rules, preferably in a nonprofit or international organization context.
- Preferred: proven fund-raising track record in non-profit setting with remote team structure, and experience in a fast-paced environment with a small team.
Competencies Needed for Job Performance
- Experience working with and designing bilateral and multilateral donor funding mechanisms, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge and experience in partnership building and fundraising concepts and practice in the development sector, preferably NGOs.
- Capacity building skills and providing technical support and guidance.
- Structured, quality-oriented, and solution-oriented approach to work.
- Independent, outgoing personality with high professional & social competence and diplomatic skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments, cultures, and time zones.
- Very good knowledge & skill of English language (written and spoken).
