About FEAPD 

The Federation of Ethiopian Associations of Persons with Disabilities (FEAPD) is a prominent cross-disability umbrella organization. Its primary objective is to serve as a unified voice and public representative for individuals with disabilities throughout Ethiopia. FEAPD is dedicated to advancing the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities, advocating for inclusivity and equal opportunities.

FEAPD collaborates closely with like-minded civil society organizations (CSOs) and member organizations in implementing projects, programs, and policies that ensure equal participation and benefits for persons with disabilities across various domains, including economic, social, political, and environmental aspects. Its aim is to eliminate barriers hindering the involvement of individuals with disabilities in all development initiatives. With a proven track record and a strong commitment to making a positive impact, FEAPD possesses the necessary experience and ambition to effectively address these types of interventions.

The global network Handicap International has become Humanity & Inclusion. The Federation, which implements projects in some 60 countries, operates under the name of "Humanity & Inclusion", "Handicap International" or "Atlas Logistique". However, the legal name of the signatory entity of the contract is unchanged and remains Handicap International Federation.

On 01 April 2024, HI entered into a grant agreement with the Donor (contract ref 2024/00161/RQ/01/02) with respect to the project Protection-integrated multi-sectorial lifesaving services for the most vulnerable IDPs and host communities in Northern Ethiopia (the “Project”), Pursuant to the Grant Agreement HI is the Lead organization where as FEAPD and Help age are sub-grantee for the implementation of the Project.

Hence, FEAPD is looking for a competent project coordinator the project who fulfils the below requirements.

Job Summary:

The Project Coordinator works under the supervision of the Plan and Program Manager and is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the protection project activities. Facilitate communication between the Federation of Ethiopian Associations of Persons with Disabilities (FEAPD) and the HI office. The Project Coordinator actively participates in project planning and continuous assessment of project implementation. She/he prepares regular reports on performance accomplishments for the Plan and Program Manager and donor agencies. The Project Coordinator represents FEAPD and liaises with government offices and donor partners in relation to the respective project of shire. She/he also manage project resources and materials.

Detailed Duties:

  • The program coordinator is responsible to:
  • Ensure the implementation of the project according to the working plan and execute project activities to ensure timely completion and achievement of expected results.
  • Implement appropriate and timely monitoring, evaluation, and reporting procedures for the project. Collaborate with FEAPD's Monitoring and Evaluation Expert to monitor project implementation.
  • Ensure the timely production and submission of high-quality activity implementation reports to the donor's focal person and the reporting line manager at FEAPD.
  • Contribute to the preparation of work plans and financial progress reports as required by the federation.
  • Maintain records of significant achievements and overall project activity progress, and properly file project documents.
  • Provide technical expertise to the planning and program department to ensure proper planning, budgeting, and reporting on the implementation of various projects/programs.
  • Contribute to the generation of project ideas and the development of projects in various development themes.
  • Perform other similar duties as directed by the reporting line manager.  

Safeguarding Policy

  • FEAPD strives to provide an environment free from sexual exploitation and abuse and harassment in all places where relief and development programs are implemented. 
  • FEAPD holds a zero-tolerance policy against sexual exploitation and abuse and harassment.
  • FEAPD expects its employees to maintain high ethical standards, protect organizational integrity and reputation, and ensure that FEAPD work is carried out in honest and fair methods, in alignment with the FEAPD Heartbeat and safeguarding and associated policies. 
  • Violations to stated policies will be subject to corrective action up to and including termination of employment.

Gender Responsibility

  • Be aware of the stereotypes about women’s and men’s capacities, and discuss how they influence staff, in assigning responsibility, and in managing resources at unit and organization level.
  • Be able to describe how gender issues relate to one’s job responsibilities and how gender equity can be promoted through the execution of those responsibilities.
  • Be familiar with the local Gender Focal Point(s), and go to her/him to learn more about gender issues, or when there is a gender grievance or harassment issue to resolve
  • Within each project and department, discuss FEAPD’s Gender & Diversity and Sexual Harassment and sexual exploitation Policies, so that all staff are conversant with them.
  • Refrain from any comments or gestures that indicate prejudicial views of female staff, especially female supervisors.
  • In each Project and Head Office, ask women staff what changes would make it more “gender-friendly”, organization and implement the recommendations

Safety & Security Responsibility

  • Adhere to all pertinent policies concerning safety and security policy of FEAPD Learn and understand the security situation where you are located - 
  • Adhere to all pertinent policies concerning safety and security, including personal safety, road safety, etc.
  • Familiarize yourself with social, cultural and other associated features of your duty stations;
  • Abstains from inappropriate or offensive behavior that can put FEAPD in a difficult position, impair operations, and jeopardize the health and welfare of all staff of FEAPD.
  • Promotes safe conducts and exercises caution in all work activities

Salary: Negotiable

Job Type: One year Contract with possibility of extension

Qualifications:

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Development Studies, Management, Economics, Agricultural Economics or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of working experience for bachelor's degree holders and 1 years for master's degree holders.
  • Experience in coordinating project implementation, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in community development and disability.
  • Demonstrated expertise in multiple areas of programming and program management, including fundraising, program development, proposal writing, monitoring & evaluation, donor relations, local partnerships, capacity strengthening, safeguarding, and PSEA.
  • Ability to work within a team, motivate others, resolve conflicts, and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing professional documents and delivering presentations to different audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to be flexible, work well under pressure, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced team environment.

Management and leadership skills.

  • Good knowledge and experience in project management procedures and systems.
  • Familiarity with national, regional, and international policies and legal frameworks related to disabilities and persons with disabilities.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with team members, colleagues, members, external partners, and supporters.
  • Values diversity and sees it as a source of competitive strength.
  • Approachable, good listener, and easy to talk to.
  • Encourages new and innovative solutions.
  • Willingness to take disciplined risks.
  • Honest, promotes openness and transparency, and demonstrates high levels of integrity.

  • Experience in applying Project Cycle Management (PCM) tools.
  • Ability to integrate into a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills.
  • Effective communication at various levels within the organization.
  • Reflects FEAPD values in daily work.
  • Adheres to FEAPD's beliefs, values, and code of conduct, particularly regarding persons with disabilities, children, and other vulnerable individuals
