Assistant Mining Engineer

• Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of heavy equipment operators, drillers, blasters and other mining operations workers.
• Continually monitor shift operation activities and performance indicators to ensure operational efficiency, data accuracy and reporting timeliness.
• Provide technical expertise to drillers and blasters as necessary to ensure that the drilling and blasting program adheres to internal standards.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and deal with drilling and blasting issues as necessary.
• Track and maintain explosive inventories for ordering and regulatory requirements.
• Track and monitor inventories of drill steel, hammers, and miscellaneous parts.
• Conduct routine inspection and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Enforce drilling and blasting standards and work to upgrade blasters skills.
• Manage mines operations shift teams to ensure effective and efficient execution of mining activities.
• Ensure that health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to and that a safe work environment is maintained.
• Liaise with maintenance engineers for the maintenance of mining equipment and prompt repairs when required.
• Ensure effective operator training is achieved.
• Respects & Implement approved HSE policies and procedures.
• Adheres to and be guided by the CBA, internal regulations, and other company policies.
• Carry out other related duties assigned to him from immediate & higher supervisors

• A minimum of B.Sc. (Geology, mining) + 7 years’ relevant experience 
• Good knowledge of cement production process
• Very good knowledge of mining and processing operations.
• Ability to make sound operating and mechanical decisions.
• Very good leadership skills.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Ability to pay attention to details.
• Good relationship management skills
