Position Title: Accountant
Reports to: Associate Director- Finance
Duty Station: ICAP-CU Ethiopia Main Office, Addis Ababa
POSITION SUMMERY
· To review, process, record, analyze, and interpret financial transactions; to provide technical support to program and regional Admin & Finance Assistants.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Services-Processing of Payment Requests
· Review purchasing, travel, personnel, and other financial transactions for mathematical accuracy; completeness; proper authorization and compliance.
· Prepare Check Payment Coding Sheets for preparation of Bank Payment Vouchers.
· Check petty cash replenishment requests and facilitates timely replenishments.
2.1 Financial Recording/Posting
· Based on ICAP Chart of Accounts, classify financial transactions by sub codes, project activity, department/unit, and other sub-analysis codes.
· Prepare Journal Vouchers to correct and/or adjust/update accounting records.
· Record/Post Cash Receipts, BPVs, and JVs to QuickBooks
2.2 Financial Analysis and Follow up
· Reconcile, balance, and maintain up to date accounting records of advances, POs, and Invoices so that long outstanding advances, PO, and Invoices are minimized.
· Assist in preparation of bank reconciliations and follow up on outstanding checks.
· Monitor balance sheet accounts.
2.3 Financial Supervision/Technical Support
· Conduct periodic site supervisions to regional offices as part of technical support and/or internal control procedures.
· Provide required technical support to Regional Offices in relation to Finance related matters.
3 Others
· Undertakes other related works as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability
1. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
2. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and/or, projections.
3. Skill in organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling personal work flow.
4. Basic data entry, record maintenance skill, account balancing and reconciling skills.
5. Excellent working knowledge of MS Word and Excel as well as ability to use other related software applications.
6. Knowledge of QuickBooks is advantageous.
7. Ability to work in a team environment.
