Position Summary:
The Deputy Director of Logistics Department at Lemi National Cement in Ethiopia is responsible for managing and overseeing all logistics operations to ensure the seamless supply of raw materials, efficient transportation, and effective maintenance. This role requires the integration of Chinese and Ethiopian personnel management practices to create a cohesive and productive workforce. Key responsibilities include supply chain management, distribution oversight, fleet and transportation management, maintenance supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee all operations related to the availability and transportation of input materials such as coal, basalt, and limestone.
· Ensure a steady supply of these materials to support continuous production.
· Manage the cement distribution unit, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of cement to various destinations.
· Develop and implement distribution strategies to optimize the supply chain.
· Supervise truck drivers and manage the fleet to ensure efficient and safe transportation of materials and products.
· Coordinate the scheduling and routing of transportation to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
· Lead the department in managing all maintenance-related issues to ensure that operations are not hindered by equipment failures or downtime.
· Implement preventative maintenance programs and ensure that maintenance tasks are carried out promptly and effectively.
· Integrate Chinese and Ethiopian personnel management practices to create a cohesive and productive workforce.
· Foster a collaborative work environment, promoting cultural understanding and teamwork.
Qualifications
· MA/Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
· An advanced degree in a related field is preferred.
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics management, (out of which 4 years in managerial position) preferably within the cement manufacturing industry.
· Proven track record of managing large logistics operations and integrating diverse personnel.
Abilities and Skills:
· Proficiency in logistics software and tools.
· Knowledge of local and international logistics regulations.
· Familiarity with maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.
· Experience in managing Chinese and Ethiopian personnel is highly desirable.
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.
· Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to foster cultural understanding and teamwork among employees from different backgrounds.
· Strong analytical skills to monitor and improve logistics performance metrics.
· Ability to implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
· Excellent problem-solving abilities to address logistical challenges and maintenance issues promptly.
· Thorough understanding of safety standards and regulations.
· Commitment to promoting a culture of safety and ensuring compliance with health and safety policies.
· Ability to adapt to changing environments and work under pressure.
· Flexibility to handle a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
