Position Title: Humanitarian Program Technical Advisor

General Position Summary
Under the guidance of the Humanitarian Team Lead, the Humanitarian Programs Technical Advisor will provide high-quality technical advisory and program management support for agriculture and nutrition sector interventions and for the teams across Mercy Corps humanitarian programs which are being operated in Oromia, Afar and Somali regions. The technical advisor will ensure that Agriculture and Nutrition interventions are effective, evidence-based, and aligned with Mercy Corps' strategic objectives. The position holder will also provide technical assistance for MCâs humanitarian responses, support new business development, ensuring/supporting the agriculture and Nutrition teams to work in line with the nationally endorsed guidelines, developing tools, checklists, and standard operation procedures, designing, and managing training and other capacity strengthening efforts. The role also ensures effective representation of MC in Agriculture and Nutrition sectors coordination forums, clusters and meetings and ensure standard sectoral practices are applied throughout the Programme areas.

Reports Directly To: Humanitarian Team Lead
Works Directly With: Humanitarian Programs Manager, MEL Manager, regional program coordinators, and works closely with the existing humanitarian team both at MC field and country office.

The position is based in Addis Ababa and may require travel to field sites in MC humanitarian operation regions, including areas with limited amenities and potential security risks. Mercy Corps team members represent the agency both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting. Team members are expected to conduct themselves professionally and respect local laws, customs, and Mercy Corps' policies, procedures, and values always and in all in-country venues.
