Financial Management Coach

Background
Stichting Wageningen Research (SWR) and RSLNC Consultancy PLC (Resilience) are jointly implementing the Ethio-Netherlands Seed Partnership (ENSP). The mission of the Ethiopia- Netherlands Seed Partnership is to enable the private sector in Ethiopia to deliver farming men and women high quality seed of improved varieties much needed for food security and nutrition, and climate resilience.

Within ENSP we are looking for an experienced Financial Management Coach. The Coach will provide business management and financial advice to multiple domestic seed businesses and actors in seed value-chains. You will develop business plans and financial models with seed companies and increase the businesses’ access to finance. All of this is intended to facilitate the doubling of their production, both in terms of value and diversity of products in their portfolio. In addition, you provide financial knowledge for implementation on several value-chain projects, involving various actors along the seed value chain.

The Finance Expert will be contracted by Stichting Wageningen Research (SWR) and seconded to Resilience. Resilience is a fast-growing agribusiness consultancy company from the Netherlands, with offices in Ethiopia, Mozambique and Rwanda. The company supports a large number of agribusiness companies investing in Africa with market research, brokering finance and technical advice. In addition, the company implements development projects in horticulture and seed sector development.

Job Purpose And Key Accountabilities
 

Under the supervision of the Project Manager of ENSP and the General Manager of Resilience, the key responsibilities of the Financial Management Coach are:

• Supporting seed companies in developing business plans and financial models;
• Brokering loans with banks for company investments;
• Facilitating meetings with companies and potential donors;
• Organizing and implementing trainings on business planning and financial management.

Person Qualifications
The Financial Management Coach is a pro-active self-motivated professional, with a background in finance, agribusiness and company advice. He/she is a team player with strong networking, communication and facilitation skills, who is able to engage with a range of public and private sector stakeholders. The Financial Management Coach has a hands-on and flexible attitude and proactive approach.

Only those candidates whose work experience and education meet the mandatory requisites below will be considered for the position:
 

• Minimum ten years’ experience working in private sector development, preferably in Ethiopia’s agriculture sector;
• Minimum of two years’ experience of working with agriculture-oriented clients;
• Master’s degree in one of the following fields: finance, accounting, agricultural economics and value-chain development, and/or related field;
• Excellent analytical and writing skills for developing business plans and financial models;

Position And Duty Location
 

• The immediate supervisor of the Financial Management Coach is the General Manager of RSLNC Consultancy PLC.
• Depending on the experience of the candidate, the position of Financial Management Coach is either a medior or senior position according to the
• standardized salary scale of Stichting Wageningen Research Ethiopia.
• The Financial Management Coach will be based in Addis Ababa but should be willing to travel within the country frequently.
