Environmental Compliance Specialist
Chemonics seeks a WASH Services Specialist for the USAID Urban Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Activity. The purpose of this Activity will be to support accelerated access to safe, adequate, inclusive, and resilient WASH services targeting urban and peri-urban areas. The Activity will work to achieve this through four complementary objectives:
The Environmental Compliance Specialist will manage the WASH Activityâs environmental compliance, ensures compliance with USAID environmental procedures, ensures proper environmental compliance record keeping and provides backstop support to the WASH team on environmental compliance matters. The specialist will oversee the development of all environmental compliance reports for construction and grants under contract activities.
This position will report to the Chief of Party and will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world as well as demonstrated capacity building expertise; experience supporting projects to achieve scale and objectives; and experience building relationships.
Responsibilities:
[DDM1]Taylor, would the environmental specialist be responsible for approving the EMMRs? I thought the ES should help in developing the EMMRs
Qualifications:
Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills required; proficiency in Amharic is highly preferred.
