Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Co-ordinate, develop and perform the environmental protection project activities
Promote agro-ecological practices (composting, inter-cropping, mixed cropping, crop rotation, proper land preparation, IPM, post-harvest management) on model farmersā plots
Train or facilitate training on biodiversity maintaining and promotion to farmers in the target kebeles.
Train farmers on watershed management and its link with climate change and climate risk crop micro-insurance. Disseminate information on Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and National Adaptation Plan (NAP) to participants from zone, district and kebele levels and media and NGOs working in climate related projects.
Train community-based disaster risk reduction (CBDRR) and establish community managed early warning DRR committees.
Carry out technical, administrative and communication tasks associated with the project activity and delivery.
Provide technical guidance in implementing the project interventions aim to rebuild the environment of the project and the surrounding areas/kebeles.
Plan, coordinate and monitor environmental activities with the relevant stakeholders- communities and government bodies.
Identify capacity gaps and provide technical support to target beneficiaries,
Develop materials for awareness raising and conduct training for the community on environmental matters,
Control the nursery activities and raises seedlings and distribute to the beneficiaries as planned.
Undertake environmental impact assessment studies for the project,
Facilitate effective implementation of the project as per the plan, set action plan (timetable and allocated budget and define roles and responsibilities of relevant actors),
Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi annually and annual reports on environmental component of the project,
Prepare draft concept paper/project proposal related to environmental protection activities,
Design appropriate capacity building initiatives for stakeholders to ensure that the sub-sector activities are implemented,
Undertake community mobilization and regular monitoring and evaluation of the project and reporting to the project coordinator,
Collect and document all the necessary information on project activities for reporting, sharing and learning, and carry out tasks associated with the environmental protection and management activities.
Maintain relevant networks with Clusters, government partners, other NGOs in respect to the project and attend meetings and represent the organization as required.
In compliance with Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) commitments, shall put in place feedback and complaint mechanisms, document and report to the Team Leader.
He/she shall perform any other duties as assigned to him by the Project Coordinator and head office management.
He/she shall prepare weekly, monthly and biannual plans and progress reports with other project staff
He/she shall follow procedures as outlined in LWF Ethiopia operation manuals.
Follow all procedures set out in the LWF-ET Staff Rules, Collective Agreement and other operational manuals.
