Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer

COMUNITA VOLONTARI PER IL MONDO (CVM) is an Italy-based international NGO re-registered with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Agency for Civil Society Organization as a Foreign organization under Certificate number 0941  by the Civil  Society Organizations Proclamation number 1113/2019  to operate in Ethiopia. CVM is active with various projects in defence of orphaned and vulnerable children, domestic workers and maids, minorities, HIV positive and AIDS patients. Moreover, it works to guarantee the increase in water availability for drinking and agricultural purposes and for the increase in sanitation.

Job Summary 

The M&E officer is responsible for the development and execution of project monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems for projects that CVM is implementing, together with Italian and national partners in Gofa and Wolayta zones majoring in WASH and agriculture. 

This role includes conducting baseline surveys and evaluations and providing capacity-building support to project staff. The officer's duty is to develop formats to collect data related to project progress and monitoring of achievement indicators, oversee data collection, and ensure systematization and analysis. He also plays a key role in reporting progress, communicating lessons learned, and enhancing communication and learning processes within the Organization and Partners

 Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop a monitoring and evaluation system for collecting data, analyzing, and reporting techniques and provide technical guidance to the project staff and partners in implementing them

• Ensure Methods for data collection and analysis are clearly understood and will fulfil reporting requirements at all levels
• In consultation with the Project coordinators and facilitators, review and prepare the project’s work plan 
• Coordinate and implement baseline surveys and assessments. 
• Develop tools to indicate the quality status of achievements on a project basis, to ensure that data reported by projects is relevant, accurate and verifiable
• Undertake regular monitoring and assist the project team at the field level to ensure project activities are implemented and outputs achieved as planned
• Ensure on-time collection of indicators 
• Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the projects in action concerning the project's financial, material and human resources utilisation
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports and ensure required quality, and report to the Project Coordinator with specified deadlines
• Facilitate different capacity building trainings and workshops 

Educational Qualifications

• BA/BSc in Economics, Statistics, Project Management, or related fields and a minimum of 4 years experience in the related field

Required Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Amharic

• Ability to use the computer and MS Office efficiently and practical skills in any data management software and social media

• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
