Who we are?

Weā€™re Population Services International (PSI), the worldā€™s leading non?profit social marketing organization. We work to make it easier for people in the developing world to lead healthier lives and plan the families they desire by marketing affordable products and services that range from mosquito nets to contraceptives to HIV testing. We are a $560m enterprise based in Washington, DC, operating in the private and public sectors in more than 65 countries.

Join us!

There are over 9,000 ā€œPSIā€™ersā€ around the world. Itā€™s a diverse group of entrepreneurs and professionals with an unusually wide range of backgrounds - from the medical industry to the music business - all with unique skills we bring to the job.

PSI/Ethiopia wants to reimagine healthcare, put the consumer at the center, and whenever possible, bring quality care to the front door.  We achieve health impact in Ethiopia by working with both government and private partners and harvesting technology innovation to bring quality care closer to communities, schools, and homes.   We empower consumers by including them in the design of healthcare solutions, offering them more healthcare choices, and helping them to have a voice in influencing national priorities.  We work with all market actors in the health system to understand their needs, designing and delivering solutions so that market systems can sustainably serve consumers for the long term, helping to support the Government of Ethiopia in achieving Universal Health Coverage.

We are looking for a Youth and Gender Advisor to support the Roadmap for Integrating Smart Start in Ethiopia (RISE), an innovative adolescent sexual and reproductive health program that is scaled up in partnership with the Ministry of Health. This role will also support the implementation of A360 Gender Strategy across the A360 projects.

Under the supervision of the Director, RISE the advisor will be responsible for implementation of the youth engagement strategy, which aims to ensure youth voices are meaningfully incorporated into all of PSIā€™s adolescent work. The advisor will work hand-in-hand with our dozens of Youth Innovation Champions (YICs) who bring youth voices to the work and serve as designers, translators, advocates and more through the portfolio. This role will support the development of a clearly defined measurement framework for the strategy and track progress. This role ensures that the Gender Integration Strategy is implemented across projects to make sure adolescent girls (15-19) have improved health, resources, and agency. This involves supporting the A360 to generate evidence, learning, and global goods which key stakeholders use to adopt and replicate A360ā€™s inspired approaches.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIā€™s)

As part of this role, there are Key Performance Indicators (KPIā€™s) we would like to achieve within the timeline.

  • Oversee the recruitment of Youth Innovation Champions in the respective regions where SRH programming is implemented.

  • Capacitate young people to actively participate and meaningfully engage in activities and forums that affect their health, rights, and wellbeing.

  • Create an enabling environment for young people to lead, actively participate, and meaningfully engaged in activities and forums that affect their health, right, and wellbeing.

  • Support the Smart Start Adaptation processes using Human Centered Design (HCD) along with team members and external collaborators.

  • Promote gender integrations and meaningful adolescent and youth engagement at all levels of projects such as Mothers Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH), Roadmap to Integrate Smart Start in Ethiopia (RISE) and Strengthening Adolescents Health and Quality Improvement (SAHQI).

  • Organize training on the intersectionality of youth and gender.

  • Work closely with Youth Innovation Champions (YICs), country gender consultant, global Gender consultants, A360 country teams, and Youth and Gender Focal Point Persons.
