Position -Farm Manager

DutyStation -Sheka (Teppi), Bonga (Keffa) and Bench Maji (Mizan Aman)

Required No. - 5

The Farm Manager is a middle level position holder who reports to Operations Director and manages coffee farms and the team assigned at a farm.

Main Roles and Responsibilities include:

• Manage and oversee field preparation, soils amendments, fertilization, and ground cover plan development,
• Leads irrigation and Integrated Pest management tasks,
• Monitor and implement procedures to maintain and improve farmyard quality,
• Monitor Irrigation, erosion control, trellis and irrigation installation and maintenance tasks,
• Ensure all necessary farm equipments are on site and in good operating condition prior to work,
• Supervise equipment maintenance and proper utilization by staff,
• Prepare plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring staff understands expectations.
• Ensuring seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other supplies are regularly restocked.
• Scheduling repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.
• Ensuring all staff adheres to health and safety regulations.
• Assisting with the recruitment and training of new staff members.
• Collaborating with senior staff to prepare budgets and financial reports.
• Building professional networks and keeping abreast of developments in agricultural science.

• BSc or MSc in Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture, Plant science, Agronomy, or related field
• 8 years for MSc or 6 years for BSc

In Addition

• Additional courses in business management are recommended.
• Extensive experience in a farming-related field.
• Management experience would be a plus.
• A passion for agriculture.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• The ability to make decisions in stressful environments.
• Superb communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.
