Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS) is a German-based global nonprofit organization, registered in Ethiopia with the Authority for Civil Society Organizations, and has been operating in Ethiopia since 2015. The organization's objectives include improving livelihoods in rural environments, supporting youth, and protecting nature and the environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Familiarize with the objective and scope of the general HRNS-Ethiopia’s program and its specific activities in the targeted project areas, in order to effectively participate in its implementation program.
Provide overall leadership on HRNS-Ethiopia’s gender strategy to ensure gender mainstreaming into the program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Develop and submit action plan with specific activities, timeline and expected outcome on gender related activities under the HRNS-Ethiopia’s project.
Assist in the compilation and preparation of reports and documents for submission to donors, federal and regional governments as well as other partner organizations.
Communicate with the Field Operations Manager and the respective development agents on current and planned activities.
Work closely with the HRNS-Ethiopia’s monitoring and evaluation officer to ensure indicator data is accurately collected and documented according to standard guidelines.
Design tailor-made training materials and organize training workshops on gender to stakeholders engaged in the HRNS-Ethiopia’s project activities.
Conduct awareness creation activities / programs on gender for coop members and union leaderships in the selected HRNS-Ethiopia’s project areas.
Train and coach, the rural household coffee community towards improving the economic participation of women and introduce systemic changes within the labor force and business practices.
Review and update the gender strategy on a need’s basis, by assessing the role of women and men along the coffee production and marketing value chain.
Design and implement communications campaign to increase women’s role at cooperative membership and leadership positions, in collaboration with development agents and implementing partners active on the ground.
Regular monitoring of prospective activities to ensure gender themes are addressed and structured to maximize women’s participation - while at the same time minimize chances for conflict due to increased role of women.
Provide detailed technical assistance to concerned staff of HRNS-Ethiopia and partner organizations in the effective utilization and management of gender monitoring and impact assessment tools.
Provide in-house sensitization on the overall gender concept to all staff of HRNS-Ethiopia office.
Record stories of success, challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations related to gender through interaction with project participants and stakeholders.
Skills required:
Requires degree in sociology and related fields.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in the field.
Good communication skill and ability to prepare progress reports.
Oral and written English communication skills.
International NGO experience is an asset.
