Position -Assistant Farm Manager

DutyStation -Sheka (Teppi), Bonga (Keffa) and Bench Maji (Mizan Aman)

Required No. - 5

The Assistant Farm Manager is a position holder who reports to the Farm Manager and handles overall farm management activities at coffee farms.

Main Roles and Responsibilities include:

• Develop and manage budget for the farm, including costs of supplies, labor, maintenance, and other expenses.
• Ensure field preparation, soils amendments, fertilization, and ground cover plan tasks are completed as per schedule.
• Ensure irrigation and Integrated Pest management tasks are completed in time.
• Ensure farmyard quality is maintained as per standard parameters.
• Ensure irrigation, erosion control, trellis and irrigation installation and maintenance tasks are conducted on a regular basis.
• Ensure all necessary farm equipments are on site and in good operating condition prior to work,
• Prepare plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring staff understands expectations.
• Ensuring seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other supplies are regularly restocked.
• Scheduling repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.
• Ensuring all staff adheres to health and safety regulations.
• Assisting with the recruitment and training of new staff members.
• Administers staff attendance and annual leave issues of farm staff.
• Compiles and sends to head office monthly staff list and total working days for payroll.
• Generates periodic reports.
• Conducts other activities assigned him/her by the farm manger or the Ops Director

• BSc or MSc in Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture, Plant science, Agronomy, or related field
• 4 years for MSc or 2 years for BSc

In Addition

• Additional courses in business management are recommended.
• Experience in a farming-related field.
• Finance and admin experience would be a plus.
• A passion for agriculture.
• Problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• The ability to make decisions in stressful environments.
• Superb communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.
