Under the clinical supervision of paediatrician/specialist, clinical officer responsible to manage outpatient and inpatient clients by obligatory prescribes procedures and medicine to ensure the health of babies; provides advice to parents on healthy development and care of new-borns; performs diagnosis on children and performs her/his duties in accordance with accepted standard medical practices and professional code of conduct.
DUTIES/TASKS
Examines in and outpatients/clients in line with standard medical procedures using various types of diagnostic mechanisms.
Administers and prescribes drugs based on the analysis of examination, test reports, and findings and provides counselling services.
Supervises NICU and Emergency and inpatient care under the leadership of a Specialist.
Teaches family members about diseases and hands-on procedures.
Identifies and manages signs of physical, sexual, and mental abuse of children.
Identifies and meets the emotional needs of families and significant others coping with infant/child illness.
Coordinates patient care and performs and/or assists inpatient care procedures.
Implements specialist access and egress procedures.
Provides MCH and immunization services.
Disseminates health education/information.
Puts the interests of clients/patients above all other considerations and ensures the confidentiality of all cases.
Ensures the maintenance of a high-level standard.
Performs newborn resuscitation, essential newborn care, care of newborn or child with problems, and other procedures.
Prepares and submits reports, as deemed necessary.
Participates in training programs providing clinical updates for health staff.
Initiates or collaborates in research undertakings.
Provides all necessary support to ensure quality improvement in newborn and childcare.
Performs related tasks as required.
Other Responsibilities
Support in center service promotion and demand creation by doing field visit to nearby referral points, participate in community conversation sessions.
Distributing referral cards to visiting clients and motivating current client to refer other needy clients.
Actively participate in center business development related task assigned by supervisor.
Education
MD-General Practitioner/BSs degree as Health Officer or BSc in paediatrics nursing
Experiences
Minimum 2 years of experiences in provision of clinical Services, an experience on paediatrics service Provision is highly preferred.
