Junior Procurement Officer

Job Description

The Junior Procurement Officer position offers an exciting opportunity to launch your career in procurement within a dynamic construction environment. You'll be responsible for supporting the procurement team with various tasks, gaining valuable experience in identifying sourcing opportunities, negotiating contracts, and ensuring a smooth supply chain for construction materials.

• Conduct market research to identify and qualify potential suppliers of construction materials based on quality, price, and delivery capabilities.

• Obtain quotes and compare pricing from various suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness.

• Maintain an updated database of qualified suppliers for future procurement needs.

• Assist with creating and issuing purchase orders for construction materials based on internal requisitions.

• Track purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to agreed-upon terms.

• Maintain clear communication with suppliers regarding order status and potential issues.

• Assist with reviewing and negotiating terms and conditions of purchase contracts with suppliers, focusing on price, quality, delivery schedules, and payment terms.

• Ensure contracts comply with all partners procurement policies and Ethiopian legal requirements.

• Assist with maintaining accurate records of all procurement activities, including supplier information, purchase orders, and contracts.

• Prepare basic reports on procurement activities, such as spending trends and supplier performance.

• Gain basic understanding of import/export procedures for construction materials, working alongside logistics specialists when necessary 

• Assist with tracking inventory levels and identifying potential stock shortages to maintain a smooth supply chain

Requirements 

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).

• 1-2 years of experience in procurement, logistics, or a related field (an internship or relevant coursework can be considered).

• Basic understanding of international procurement strategies (a plus).
