NCA is a member of various civil society networks, coordination mechanisms, and clusters in Ethiopia. In its current strategic period (2020-2024), NCA Ethiopia implements programmes focused on Climate Resilient Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH); Faith-Based Climate Action; Peacebuilding; Gender-Based Violence/Sexual/ Reproductive Health; and Humanitarian Emergency Response.

NCA is a member of the ACT Alliance, a coalition of organizations working together in over 140 countries to create positive and sustainable change in people’s lives.

NCA would like to invite interested and qualified applicants for the below positions for emergency response project in Zata Woreda. The project start date for all the positions will be 20th August 2024.

Reports to:                       Health officer

Duty Station:                    Zata Woreda 

Length of Contract:          9 months 

Basic Salary:                    ETB 43,000

Job Summary: 

Mobile Clinical Nurses based at the intervention sites of Zata Woreda, will be responsible for implementing the life-saving interventions component of the humanitarian health assistance project for communities affected by drought and conflict for people that have poor access to primary health care in contested areas of Zata Woreda.

S/he will provide technical support to health facilities including health posts as well as participate in carrying out essential lifesaving primary health care services including medical consultations. The incumbent is expected to work in collaboration with the district health offices, local stakeholders, staff of NCA, and partners for effective implementation and monitoring of the project activities.

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Work in collaboration with the district health facilities including health centers, and health posts, and provide technical support to health workers for the delivery of emergency and primary health care services such as IMNCI, and ICCM activities to communities affected by the impact of drought, conflict, and other natural disasters, and people who have no access to the services.

  • Participate in static clinic and/or Outreach services to provide essential lifesaving primary health care services to displaced people and people who have no access to health services.

  • Provide technical support and participate in essential lifesaving primary health care services to people who have no access to primary health care services. 

  • Makes sure that the health staff have adequate training on key maternal and child health activities per national manual/protocol.

  • Ensures the availability of job aids, reporting formats, therapeutic products, and drugs for program implementation at the health facility level.

  • Follow and ensure, action is taken by all responsible parties on gaps identified during supervision.

  • Supports and liaises with local health staff and provides on-the-job training/coaching and capacity building where required.

  • Undertake individual evaluations with the team and improve gaps. Makes sure that health professionals from the health facilities participate in the daily routine work for sustainability and smooth phase-out strategy, 

  • Organizes Weekly, monthly, and Quarterly reports and reports on time to the project coordinator and provides updates when needed. 

  • Report any problems on time to the project coordinator,
    Upholds the image and values of NCA at all times,

  • Performs other related tasks as required,

  • BSc Degree in Clinical Nursing
  • A minimum of 4 years hands-on experience which 2 years is in NGOs and in the MHNT/Static clinic program more specifically is preferable.
  • Experience in team management, nutrition programs, and community work.

  • Experience and training on IMNCI and or ICCM

  • Experience and training on HMIS in primary health care setting.
