Background

Under the programmatic/additional supervision of the Family Assistance Program (FAP) National Officer, with the direct supervision of the FAP ICMT Officer and in coordination with the head of ICT in IOM Ethiopia the successful candidate will be based in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, duty station and will be accountable and responsible for the day-to-day Information Management and Communication Technology monitoring, training and problem solving for the German family reunification,resettlement, and evacuation caseloads.

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  1. Coordinate all IT/IS related activities in support of the Family Assistance Program to be established in All FAP offices.
  2.  Ensure that all IT/IS related requests are addressed in a timely and accurate manner, whileefficiently allocating resources and support where required.
  3. Provide support to the IOM FAP networking in planning for necessary systems upgrades and IT infrastructure changes compliant with IOM ICT Standards and the IT requirements of the donor, and in close coordination with ITCSC/ITU Manila; install systems, network components and software; suggest best technical solutions to achieve required standards while taking into consideration local technical constraints.
  4. Assist in the planning, configuring, installing, and troubleshooting network infrastructure including routers, WAN optimizers, firewalls, gateways, access points, vLANs, etc.
  5. Support data and information processing and analysis regarding the production of statistics/reports/publishing materials related to the FAP Global.
  6. Support in the administration/management/customization of FAP ICT services/solutions (Microsoft Power BI, App, Microsoft 365 Solutions ā€œDynamics 365, Office 365, Teams ā€¦ā€, LAN, WAN, Messaging, Internet connectivity, etc.), to prevent and minimize downtime or service interruptions. Perform daily monitoring and adequate completion of backups & Documentation.
  7. Support the implementation of IOM ITC Standards, policies, and guidelines, with regards to implementation of network systems, IT security, software licensing, telecoms and ITC procurement in support of the IOM FAP network.
  8. Develop IT/IS user manuals and training programs for the systems and technology in place.
  9. Develop and implement, when necessary, ICT training, to include training on the IOM software platform and set-up requirements, to all IOM FAP end users to ensure productive use of system, IT, and telecommunications resources.
  10. Maintain the office's ICT inventory for hardware and software (safeguarding media and licenses), including regular updates to the technical documentation of related IT networks.
  11. Act as a support technician to resolve technical and software problems encountered by the staff Across all FAP offices.
  12. Prepare reports, statistical tables, analysis of data, graphics, and publishing of information about IOM activities in a simple, readable and attractive format.
  13. Liaise with ICT service providers, FPU, and vendors for the adequate and timely provision of supplies and services.
  14. Seek quotes and carry out purchases of IT equipment as required by the project and by upgrading requests by FAP IMCT Unit and FAP Management Team.
  15. Inform management of any problems or issues immediately and regularly make suggestions on how to improve efficiency and service.
  16. Report and take active steps to mitigate fraud and malfeasance, and to monitor the integrity of records containing individual data.
  17. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelorā€™s Degree or higher University Degree preferably in Computer Science, Science, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience or
  • Completed High School degree from accredited academic institution with six years relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in networking, Software support & Cluster environments (LAN/WAN) and remote network/desktop support.
  • A Microsoft Dynamics CRM Application and/or Microsoft Dynamics CRM Customization and Configuration Certification is an asset.
  • A Microsoft technical Certification (MCSA, MCSE, MCDBA) or an IT Project Management certification would be a distinct advantage.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Publisher.
  • Previous work experience in international organizations and service industry companies would be an advantage.

Skills

  • Problem-solving, Teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.

Languages

  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
  • Working language of Arabic and or Amharic is desirable
