The Opportunity

The main purpose of the job is to implement ā€œProvide teacher training on Education in Emergencies (EiE) provision for Sudanese nationals in Ethiopia refugee sites.ā€ Project funded by Expertise France Additionally, the project assistant officer will be responsible to implement complementing projects funded by different donors.

The overall objective of this integrated project is to addresses the life-saving needs of crisis-affected populations through integrated interventions.

The position holder will be responsible for all operational aspects of the humanitarian intervention and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of Planā€™s emergency response within his/her designated geographical area mainly related to Emergency Education and Emergency projects including handling ensuring integration of Education with other projects activities.

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) (10%) 

  • Understand and put into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan Internationalā€™s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures; 

  • Ensure that Programme implementation staff at the country office and in the field are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan Internationalā€™s safeguarding and GEI policies; 

  • Ensure that Plan Internationalā€™s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in project design, during implementation and as principles applied in day-to-day work of Programme team;  

  • Ensure that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan Internationalā€™s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.   

The Individual

  • Bachelor degree in education, with additional training in education planning and management and project planning and management techniques   

  • Knowledge of current national international strategies on access, equity, and quality education and child protection policies and models 

  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in education or child protection in emergencies.    

  • Relevant trainings in the area of education or child protection project management and monitoring  

  • Experience of working with local/national governments and capacity building of systems, partners and staff.
