The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to providing trauma rehabilitative services to survivors of gross human rights abuses, including torture, and works toward a future in which gross human rights violations cease to exist and victims have hope for a new life. We are headquartered in Minnesota, USA with offices in Africa and the Middle East. We work locally, nationally, and internationally through programs that provide trauma rehabilitative services, conduct technical assistance and capacity building to human rights activists, civil society organizations, and local service providers around the world who can prevent and treat gross human rights abuses, and advocate for human rights and an end to gross human rights violations.
General Description of Role:
The Logistic Assistant will play a key role in ensuring smooth operation of the CVT Ethiopiaâs field operation in Deberbirhan, ensuring uniform and correct application of logistical and assist on the procurement as per the policies and procedures within The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) Ethiopia. S/he will provide logistics support and procurement for program and administrative activities in Debrebirhan.
Main Responsibilities
Logistics related
Identify issues and materials in need of repair and maintenance in Debrebirhan & IDP centers by visiting sites and speaking with the staff, and notify supervisor of these needs so that necessary repair and maintenance can be provided
Ensure that Logistics manual is fully in place and responsible for its application
Keep record of project fixed assets, to monitor the equipment and ensure that equipment is properly used and prepare asset reports to Area Manager on monthly base or as requested.
Assist procurement committee in obtaining bids, or conducting market search, and in procuring most appropriate goods/services given the cost and quality, with necessary authorization.
Assist procurement committee in procurement of goods/services, identification of service providers, transportation of materials and service providers, distribution of procured items, and other routine activities in DebreBirhan & IDP centers
Ensure compliance with Ethiopian, donor's and CVT's requirements on procurement processes and documentation.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure there is adequate and continuous supply of water, electricity, internet, etc. in DebreBirhan & IDP centers
Supervise the work of service providers in DebreBirhan & IDP centers, so as to ensure quality of work to supply and to maintain CVT premises and equipment in good order;
Ensure accommodations is prepared for visitors in DebreBirhan
Provide backstopping for general office support tasks, including assisting on inventory management, store management, and other tasks assigned to him/her by his supervisor.
Ensure CVT facilities are in good shape at IDP sites
Other duties
Supervise driver/s
Schedule vehicle movement
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Participate in other program and organization-wide activities, meetings and trainings. Complete assigned responsibilities.

Will not approach (potential) beneficiaries for their involvement in non CVT activities without prior approval of CVT supervisor.
Keep absolute confidentiality on all information managed.Obligated to report any information to the supervisor when the security of CVT staff and/or of CVT beneficiary might become an issue.

Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyoneâs responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during work hours and outside work hours).
Terms of Employment: Initial contract starting from 7th of October 2024, through May 31, 2025(60 business days of probationary period) and with a possibility of continuation thereafter depending on the funding availability.
Required Qualifications
BA degree in Procurement & Logistics, Business Management, Marketing Management, Accounting & Finance or other related Fields. with a minimum 2 yearsâ experience in a similar setting for INGOs, or Diploma in the above-mentioned subjects with a three yearsâ experience in a similar setting for INGOâs may be considered.

Required: Commitment to the ethical and sensitive implementation of project activities, including a commitment to confidentiality, diversity, equity, and inclusion, quality service provision, and the prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment
Required: Experience working in the Amhara Region, with a strong preference for candidates who have lived and worked with the IDPs in Debrebirhan.
