Organizational Overview:  The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) associated with former President William J. Clinton’s Foundation is currently operating in Ethiopia carrying out a wide range of programs to support the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia in improving the health status of the country by ensuring access and quality of health services. CHAI is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low- and middle-income countries while strengthening the capabilities of governments and the private sector in those countries to create and sustain high-quality health systems that can succeed without assistance.

We are committed to increasing our effectiveness through an innovative programming approach that optimizes quality, impact, and scale. CHAI Ethiopia is currently working in the following programs: Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH), HIV Access, Lab Services, Vaccines, Child Survival/Essential Medicine program, Assistive Technology, NTDs, and Health Financing.

JOB SUMMARY:

The overall goal CHAI vaccine program is to contribute to the reduction of morbidity and mortality due to vaccine preventable diseases. One of the major focus areas to meet this goal

is addressing Zero Dose children through innovative intervention projects to contribute to the effort of MOH in the reduction of morbidity and mortality from vaccine-preventable diseases in Ethiopia. This will be implemented through identifying and reaching zero dose and under-immunized children at the primary health care level in underserved communities. CHAI aims to do this by investigating where and why there are zero-dose and under-immunized children, designing and testing context appropriate and sustainable solutions with key implementation stakeholders and beneficiaries, and strengthening data use culture and vaccine distribution systems for improved vaccine availability at the last mile. In addition, CHAI supports MOH on NVI/HPV, IIP trainings and COVID-19 vaccine integration with routine immunization planning, coordination and implementation activities at national and sub-national levels.

CHAI’s effort in this investment will incorporate a "learning by doing" approach with a learning agenda that complements and builds on existing system improvements and ensures synergies with government, donors, and partner efforts and strategies for zero dose reduction and health systems strengthening in-country. The other CHAI’s focus area is building capacity of  the federal and regional level and universities, lesson learnt documentation for future learning and dissemination.

For the implementation of this Project, CHAI Ethiopia vaccine program is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong public health experience and analytical skills to serve as a Technical Advisor for immunization focusing on the implementation of ZD project and identification of zero dose (Under immunized) drivers through behavioral and social drivers’ study and designing of high impact intervention through implementation of Human Centered Design in targeted woredas as well as other impactful immunization programs activities.
