Production Manager

Job Purpose

Tinaw Business S.C. is legally registered entity established in accordance with the Commercial Code of Ethiopia. Located in Guraghe Zone of the Central Ethiopian State Ezga Woreda. The Company is currently engaged in the production and exports of rose flower on 32 hectares of greenhouse coverage and exports to the international market. Currently the company employs about 800 employees and generates over 8 million Euro per year.

Building on 18 years of experience and remarkable performance in the floriculture sector, the company has embarked on farm expansion project on 54 hectares of land. The first phase of the project implementation on 15 hectares is almost complete and the second phase has started on 25 hectares. In connection with the farm expansion, Tinaw is looking for highly experienced Production Manager.

 With the direct supervision of the Farm Manager, the primary purpose of the job shall be managing the production of high quality roses at optimum cost.    

Key Responsibilities:

   - Develop and implement production schedules to meet market demands.

   - Plan and oversee the planting, cultivation, and harvesting processes.

   - Ensure that production targets are met efficiently and within budget.

   - Supervise and lead a team of farm workers, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance.

   - Assign tasks and responsibilities to staff and monitor their progress.

   - Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations among staff.

   - Monitor the health of rose plants, identifying and addressing any issues such as pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.

   - Implement best practices for irrigation, fertilization, pruning, and other horticultural techniques to optimize growth and yield.

   - Ensure proper use and maintenance of farming equipment.

   - Maintain high standards of rose quality, ensuring that all products meet or exceed market requirements.

   - Implement quality control procedures throughout the production process.

   - Coordinate with the sales and marketing teams to understand quality expectations and adjust production accordingly.

   - Manage the procurement and inventory of fertilizers, pesticides, and other necessary supplies.

   - Monitor and manage the farm's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.

   - Ensure efficient use of water, energy, and other resources.

 - Maintain accurate records of production activities, including planting dates, harvest yields, and resource usage.

   - Prepare and submit reports on production performance, issues, and achievements to upper management.

   - Implement sustainable farming practices to minimize environmental impact.

Qualifications and Experience 

- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field and 8 years of progressive experience in flower farm management out of which at least five years in  production Manager position

- Proven experience in farm management, particularly in rose production.

- Strong knowledge of rose cultivation techniques and horticultural best practices.

- Excellent leadership and team management skills.

- Ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the production schedule.

- Proficiency in farm management software and tools (preferred).

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Working Conditions:

- The role involves working in varying weather conditions.

- Physical stamina is required for overseeing farm activities and managing production.
