Positive Action for Development (PAD) is an indigenous, non-governmental, humanitarian, and development organization legally registered at the federal level by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Charities and Societies Agency on June 6, 2011, with a registration number of 2330.
PAD would like to hire two qualified Food security and Livelihoods officers for a project titled “Integrated Responses to Drought-affected Communities in Siraro woreda of the Oromia region. The officers will primarily be responsible for implementing activities related to animal production, animal health service provision, agronomic practices other food security and livelihood-related activities.
Duties and responsibilities
Ensure the mainstreaming of gender, disability, and other cross-cutting issues in all project-related activities.
Provide inputs that contribute to the improvement of project effectiveness and the development of new project proposals for organizational sustainability.
Ensure the safety of all organizational assets.
Perform other duties as assigned by the project coordinator and supervisors. In the event of a humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly
In collaboration with other project staff and stakeholders, participate in the preparation of project-related criteria, guidelines, and manuals.
Qualifications and Experience
For the Veterinarian FSL officer Position - BSc degree in Animal Science, Animal Health, Veterinary Medicine or other related fields.
For the Agronomist FSL officer Position - BSc degree in Plant Science, Agronomy, Rural Development, Agricultural Economics, or other related fields.
Work Experience (for both positions)
At least five years of work experience in the agriculture sector in local or international NGOs.
Experience in implementing similar projects/programs related to food security and livelihood-based emergency responses, including agriculture sector activities, animal health service coordination, and voucher-based animal health services.
Understanding of and experience in the project implementation techniques, participatory planning, implementation, and monitoring basic practices;
Motivated self-starters, able to carry out work independently but also coordinate effectively as part of a team;
Skills Required, Attitudes, and Attributes
Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Fluency in local language, both written and verbal.
Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Team management and leadership skills.
Handling insecure environments.
Managing resources to optimize results.
Innovation, flexibility, and a solution-oriented approach
No required: Two (2) (one Veterinarian and one Agronomist)
