Job Title: Head of Consumer & Channel Sales

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Reporting to: Head of Commercial or COO (temporarily reporting to the CEO)
Department: Commercial

Job Purpose:

The Head of Consumer & Channel Sales is responsible for building and managing a high-performance sales team focused on both direct consumer sales and channel sales, ensuring alignment with Dodaiā€™s values, processes, and international standards. This role also leads the development of a distributor network across Ethiopia. The positionā€™s sales target for 2025 is 5,000 vehicles through both direct and channel sales. The role requires active, on-the-ground leadership while coordinating closely with the CEO, BD, and Customer Experience teams for strategy and planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Direct Sales Team Development:
    • Build a result-oriented, customer-centric sales team that embraces Dodaiā€™s core values and processes while hitting sales targets in a structured and scalable way within the first 3 months.
    • Set up and maintain international-standard showrooms to support the sales process.
    • Research and learn from internationally top-performing sales team structures and practices to apply best practices, rather than adhering to the common sales processes and structures in Ethiopia.
  2. Channel Sales Development:
    • Develop and manage a network of distributors in 3-4 regional capitals outside Addis Ababa.
    • Develop a robust requirement, support and monitoring system to ensure distributors maintain high levels of service and professionalism, adhering to Dodaiā€™s standards.
    • Create and enforce on-boarding and off-boarding procedures for distributors that meet and do not meet the required standards, respectively.
    • Establish an incentive scheme and a digital tracking system to monitor distributor performance, key metrics, and troubleshooting.
  3. Sales Strategy and Leadership:
    • Take a hands-on approach, actively leading the team on the ground to drive performance and results.
    • Align closely with the Head of Commercial/COO, CEO, Head of BD, and Head of Customer Experience to integrate sales strategies with broader business objectives and customer experience goals.
    • Contribute to public affairs initiatives in collaboration with the CEO, Head of BD, and Public Affairs Officer to support Dodaiā€™s growth and market positioning.
    • Continuously gather market feedback and adjust sales strategies to maintain competitiveness and customer satisfaction.
    • Manage all aspects of the sales pipeline, including lead generation, qualification, customer engagement, and closing deals.
  4. Sales Targets:
    • Achieve the sales target of 5,000 vehicles for 2025, covering both direct consumer sales and channel sales.
    • Monitor sales performance regularly and adjust strategies to ensure the team and distributor network meet their goals.
  5. Reporting & Analytics:
    • Implement a digital tracking system to monitor sales performance, distributor activities, and key metrics.
    • Ensure all activities are recorded digitally in a transparent manner, with minimal manual reporting required.
    • Provide regular reports to the CEO and other key stakeholders, ensuring transparency in performance and areas for improvement.
  • Proven experience (at least 10 years) in building and managing a high-performance sales team, with a focus on both direct and channel sales for high-value goods.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement international-standard sales processes and team management systems within tight timeframes.
  • Strong track record of developing distributor networks, including monitoring systems and incentive schemes.
  • Experience in setting up and managing digital tracking systems for sales and key performance metrics.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a hands-on approach to managing and supporting the sales team on the ground.
  • Ability to align with cross-functional teams, including BD and Customer Experience, to develop comprehensive strategies.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for engaging customers and partners.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with attention to detail and high standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in e-mobility, automotive, or similar sectors is highly desirable.
