Overview
The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for installing, adjusting, maintaining, repairing, and providing technical support for biomedical equipment used in an ophthalmic setting. This role involves designing systems to evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment. The Biomedical Engineer will analyze and interpret findings to contribute to the design and iteration of novel biomedical equipment and provide technical training for equipment operators.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment Management
Install and maintain biomedical equipment used in the ophthalmic setting.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for biomedical equipment.
Test and assess the functionality of equipment, measuring for accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity.
Safety and Compliance
Evaluate and ensure the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment.
Monitor equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Design and Analysis
Analyze and interpret findings to support the design and iteration of novel biomedical equipment, devices, and supporting instrumentation.
Technical Support and Training
Provide technical training for equipment operators to ensure proper use and maintenance of biomedical equipment.
Design and implement systems for ongoing evaluation and improvement of equipment performance.
Other
Perform other duties as required.
Location: Bahir Dar, Ethiopia
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Qualifications and Skills
Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering (Biomechanics and Rehabilitation).
Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering or related fields.
Strong technical skills in the installation, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment.
Ability to assess equipment safety, efficiency, and effectiveness.
Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting technical data.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and take initiative on assigned tasks.
Ability to achieve team goals while demonstrating organizational values and utilizing resources responsibly.
Proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
Relevant Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of working experience in a health, eye care service provider especially in NGO for Master degree holder.
A minimum of 6 years of working experience in a health, eye care service provider especially in NGO for Bachelor degree holder.
