Jobs Position Distinctive Description 

The laboratory Manager works closely with the top management to ensure the smooth running of the Branch laboratory service. He keenly and dedicatedly supervises employee/s routine laboratory tests and maintains records and technical lab work is performed under his close and general supervision.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

This job description is intended to provide an overview and main tasks, duties & responsibilities but It is not limited to:  The job description may be enriched and/or enlarged as deemed appropriate by WHCSC.

  • To act as a backup for the administrative director when required

  • To ensure that the branch quality management plan is well performed and followed regularly,

  • To oversee the branch lab’s safety programs,

  • To organize, facilitate and execute daily, bi/weekly, monthly, staff and management meetings asp,

  • To take an active role in the staff performance appraisal program and forward all relevant inputs/feedback, 

  • To represent the branch at the different committees functioning and task forces assignment, 

  • Act as a representative to internal and external clients on daily routine.

  • Collaborate and work jointly in the selection, placement and training of new employees, 

  •  Assess needs, report and collaborate in staff development and training programs,

  • Coaches’ lab technician and lab technologists to ensure that she/he knows his performance expectations and equipped in technical and service operation skills and capability, 

  • Manage independently day –to day operations and maintenance of branch labs., Equipment and technical tasks meeting required standard, 

  • He is fully responsible for overseeing the WHCS’ branch technical and sales operations

  • Ensure the smooth functioning of technical and sales operations, monitor and evaluate branch, staff progressive performance, assist in training and recruitment process, set performance target, and ensure overall client satisfaction on overall service,

  • Meet steadily with clients to manage the important pathway between the agreements of the sale to the final General Checkup, lab service to the final General Checkup, and lab result,

  • Build hospitable and intensive Customer relationship seeing it as decisive elements of your jobs,

  • Promote intensively the lab service at the branch to local markets and surroundings applying different sales and marketing tactics and strategy, properly liaison with sales and marketing Division at headquarters to seize any leveraging opportunities in sales, promotion and PR.

  • Ensure proper management of laboratory story and stock items in non-delinquent and safe ways, 

  • Ensure safe and care handling, management of cash on hand equivalent instruments and transfer of daily cash and equivalent financial instrument to bank on time and on swift, 

  • Work relentlessly to boom-up service revenue boosting branch operation income and sales margin, 

  • Create conducive and enabling work environment for branch team to increase productivity

  • Analyze performances for all relevant accounts and monitoring competitor activities and market trends to find new opportunities, exert continuous effort and attain result of maximizing sales,

  • Explore trade shows opportunity and utilize event opportunities to promote the good image of company’s services paving way for increased service sales 

  • Produce performance reports persistently, submit and present them to division Director or next line authority seeing it as significant part of a Technical and sales Manager’s job supplementing with supplementing sales data and narrative reports. 

  • Performance progress report and performance plan shall be supported by scientific forecast and KPIs.

  • Perform additional work assignments when assigned by immediate supervisor or next authority asp. 

 Functional relationship with: 

  •  Division Directors/Managers,  branch managers , Center support at WHCSC

  • Local primary Government and financial organization personnel 

  • Local communities and external agencies as needed

Medical Checking Service Division/ Deputy CEO, Technique & Service Operation/Chief Executive officer/CEO of WHCSC

Job purpose                            : To plan, perform, lead and manage branch overall technical, service operation and  

                                                  sales and marketing works, human, financial and materials resources and report   overall activities of WHCSC. 

Staff Responsibility                 :  Laboratory Technologist, laboratory Technician, Receptionist, Senior Accountant &   

    HR Officer, Cashier and Guards.

Place                                        : Bale-Goobba

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  •  MSc/BSC degree in Laboratory Technology with Professional License issued by medical laboratory Technologist then approved by food, Medicine and Health care Administration and control Authority of Ethiopia.

  •  5/ 7 years of experience in Diagnostic laboratory and clinical lab services. And ½ years supervisory experience are required. 

  1. Competencies: technical, skills, and abilities, managerial/leadership & behavioral 

  • Excellent practical, theoretical and hands-on practice in laboratory work 

  • Outstanding knowledge, skill and operation of lab equip and tools

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Good presentation skills

  • Proven Problem solve skills

  • Effective time management skills

  • Ability to work with a team and independently when required

  • Ability to plan and implement new projects

  • Excellent human resources management skills

  • Highly integral and trustworthy,

  • Dynamics and responsive enough

  • Professional and attentive enough for attention to details

  • Hospitable and customer service oriented

  • Acquainted with decisive business acumen

  • Computer literacy is required

Language skills: English, Afaan Oromoo, and Amharic, languages basic conversation and writing skills are required.
