Reports to                                        : Vice Dean, Finance and Administration  

Job purpose                                     : Support in technology to keep their operations running smoothly from hardware and software troubleshooting to network maintenance and data security. To play as technicians an integral role in ensuring that technology is functioning correctly, and any issues are addressed quickly and efficiently. Assist in planning and accomplishing overall IT and Technician support service works aligned to overall activities of WHCS both Surgical and Medical Specialty center and Health Science and Business College.

Functional relationships with: 

  • CEO, Specialty center and Division/Section /Managers/Head

  • Dean, and Health Science and Business College.

  • Registarar Head, 

  • Vice Dean, Specialty center, Finance and Administration 

  • Work Units

Place of work     : Harar , Waliif Health Care S.C , Medical and Surgical Specialty Center / Health Science and Business College 

The duties and responsibilities of  IT Support and Technician are listed below but not limited:

  • Install and configure computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks to ensure smooth operation and to identify and address problems promptly.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.
  • Providing technical support to end-users either face-to-face, over the phone or via email.
  • Setup new user accounts and profiles and handling password issues,
  • Conducting regular system backups and data recovery in case of system failures,
  • Managing and keeping track of IT inventory and equipment, 
  • Keeping up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends and updating computer systems, software, and hardware accordingly,
  • Ensure overall internal customer of End-user to solve any technology related problems in a friendly and hospitable manner,
  • Ensure safe and proper use of Computer, networking, and all accessories and networking infrastructure, and fixation and report any findings for action, 
  • Adhere to IT ethical and established policies and procedures.

  • Perform other tasks when assigned by immediate or next line authority

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Relevant certification such as Computer Maintenance, CCNA, or MCSE are preferred 
  • A diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field plus 2/3 years relevant work experience respectively.

Competencies: technical, skills, and abilities, expertise & behavioral

  •    Technical skills and knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networks
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide technical support to end-user
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Knowledge of security software and cybersecurity best practices
  • Professional and attentive enough for attention to details, hospitable and customer service oriented 

Language skills: English, Afaan Oromoo, Amharic, and other local languages basic conversation and writing skills are required.
