About This Role
The Assistant I, Finance is responsible for transacting and accurately documenting cash and cheque transactions of the project, and effecting payment against approved invoices, and ensures all cash received/ income are deposited to the appropriate bank account promptly.
Primary Responsibilities
Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the Child Safeguarding and Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) policies and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding and PSEAH Policies.
Reviewing disbursement requests for accuracy, documentation and validity; effect payment to the right beneficiaries from the project.
Reviewing accounts on regular basis to ensure the balances are complete and accurate.
Recording of all the project financial transactions, meeting all submission dates, and reporting requirements as required by the immediate supervisor.
Assuring accuracy of supporting documentation for accounting records.
Organizing and maintain accounting filling system.
Receive cash and checks on a pre-numbered cash receipt voucher of the organization.
Ensure that advance payments are settled as per the policy.
Review financial documents before a payment as per the budget line
Prepares payment vouchers and checks based on approved payment requests.
Prepare a letter to the bank to transfer funds and collect bank advice timely.
Perform payment of workshop/training and community conversation sessions organized
Taking part in inventory taking and control of assets and stock items
Assisting the Location Project Finance and Admin Officer in the Implementation of the internal control system and financial procedures and manual of the organization.
Providing technical support to the project team in financial management-related issues.
Follow up onAcc daily cash position
Performs other similar duties as assigned by the project coordinator and as the emergency dictates.

Qualification:
At least 2 years’ relevant experience.
Good understanding of petty cash/ cash, and general administrative management principles.
Problem-solving skills; ability to analyze data, along with the capacity to accurately perform a variety of financial tasks by establishing priorities.
Computer proficiency in general office software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook).
Written and oral communication skills in English
Ability to work independently
A strong set of personal values including integrity, honesty, and desire to be of service
Accuracy and attention to detail
NGO experience is advantageous
BA Degree in Accounting/Finance
