The Opportunity

The Economic Empowerment Officer (EEO) will be in charge of economic strengthening and IGA parts of the project implemented in the fields under Plan International Ethiopia and collaborate with local government offices, community, service providers, facilities (OSCs/PHCUs, schools, TVETs, police, law enforcement bodies), CSOs, zonal and woreda level multisectoral cluster coordination, SGBV committee, community associations operating in the regions mentioned above. The role will require technical guidance and support from SOYEE advisor, closely working with Plan International Ethiopiaā€™s Technical advisors on SRHR, Gender and inclusion specialist, cash specialist, MEAL Coordinator, SGBV specialist, program quality team, area managers, operations team who provide support to the quality program delivery. The position will be based at the Afar regional offices of Plan International Ethiopia.

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan Internationalā€™s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that all staff signed safeguarding policies.
  • Implement Plan Internationalā€™s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.

ā€¢ Bachelor degree in Economics, Business Management, Business Administration, and Development studies. 
ā€¢ 3 years of demonstrated success/ experience in the economic empowerment/strengthening projects, including strengthening IGA (Income Generating Activities/interventions for SGBV survivors.

Language:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Local language (Qafarafh).
