The Water and Land Resource Center (WLRC)
WLRC is an autonomous research-for-development entity and its overarching goal is to generate knowledge that informs to sustainably transform the water and land resources management of Ethiopia and Horn of Africa. A. JOB SUMMARY
The Junior Accountant will be appointed to carry out assistance tasks such as cash payment, data registration, reconciliation of financial data, and provides other financial support to the finance department.
Assist in ensuing that proper financial policies, procedures and systems are operated and maintained.
Ensure that all financial transactions are compliant with local laws, donor regulations, and internal policies.
Prepare payment vouchers, obtain approval, and effect payment.
Coordinate per diem and other workshop/training related payments.
Record transactions in to Quick books accounting software.
Maintain proper filing system for financial documents.
Prepare and pay taxes and pension.
Follow up and ensure that travel and work advances are settled on time/as required.
Assist in the preparation of monthly expense report.
Perform liaison duties with banks to process CPO’s, drafts, collect bank statements and other document as delegated.
Work closely with field finance officers to ensure transfer of funds on a timely manner.
Checking and ensure all the financial document of field offices for completeness and proper expense authorization.
Assist in the coordination of year-end audit.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
BA in Accounting
Minimum 3 years relevant work experience. NGO experience is preferred.
Good knowledge of Microsoft office application software and knowledge of accounting software particularly QuickBooks is highly preferred.
Ability to effectively work in a team.
Good command of English and Amharic (writing and speaking).
