ABOUT CVM - ComunitĂ Volontari per il mondo
ComunitĂ Volontari per il Mondo (CVM) is a non-profit making Christian Organization based in Ancona, Italy. It was founded in 1978 by a group of people who had deeply dedicated but also had the concern to help people in their struggle to exist in this world irrespective of who are and where they are from. ComunitĂ Volontari per il Mondo(CVM) has been working in Ethiopia since 1995, focusing its work on water, hygiene, and sanitation, HIV prevention, and control through socio-health interventions, promotion of social policies and human rights, promoting social inclusion and minority rights, support for training and access to education, leather sector, socio-economic and micro-credit development, decent work for Domestic Workers and safe migration. CVM is implementing diverse projects in different regions of Ethiopia.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analysing and brief account information
Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information
Secure financial information by completing database backups
Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions
Review and check expense reports
Review and reconcile the general ledger regularly
Maintain electronic and paper records, ensuring information is organized and easily accessible
Handle incoming and outgoing stock to/from the store and ensure the appropriate person approves all store requisitions before preparing GIV
Create a unique ID (product code) for each item
Handle goods receipts notes (GRN), Goods issuing Note (GIN), Goods receiving and Dispatch note /Delivery Order (DO) and ensures that all the proper documentation is handled and managed in a professional way
Maintain updated and accurate databases of stock items by entering stock-related data into electronic databases.
Maintain petty cash fund, keep it safe, and prepare cash report with all supporting documents.
Make cash payments only after getting approval/authorisation from the Responsible authority.
Keep payments/receipt vouchers and their supporting documents in a safe place
Reconcile cash accounts with financial documents and update the cash book regularly.
Request replenishment when the expenditure reaches 75% of the petty cash fund upon authorisation.
Ensure that, all collections and payments are done against serially pre-numbered cash receipts and cash payment vouchers.
Intact deposit all collections received from advance settlement or other sources.
Record daily transactions and CRV & Petty Cash reconciliations on a spread sheet.
Checks and pays office and guesthouse utilities bill /telephone, fax, water, and electricity.
Comply with all relevant CVM policies and procedures.
Ensure the effective and efficient use of all CVM resources to keep costs low
Scanned and documented all financial documentation.
Perform all other duties related to the position.
Educational Qualifications and Skills Required:
BA degree in Accounting
A minimum of 2 years experience in the related field.
Required skills:
Proven accounting experience in the NGO sector.
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
Experience with creating financial statements.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Excellent Peachtree accounting software user and administration skills.
Accuracy and attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
