Good Neighbors, a global NGO founded in Korea in 1991, operates in 40 countries and is supported by seven nations. Since 1997, its Ethiopian branch has focused on improving lives through child protection, education, health, and more. GNE operates in multiple regions of Ethiopia, including Addis Ababa, Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, Benishangul Gumuz, Somali, Sidama, South Ethiopia, and Central Ethiopia. GNE now launches a new project in Addis Ababa, funded by the Global Partnership Center, to support vulnerable youth with employment opportunities. They are looking for a qualified individual to join their team.

Overview of the Position

  • The overall objective of the project is to improve livelihood income and self-sufficiency of young men and women who were unemployed and vulnerable in Addis Ababa. To achieve these outcomes, the GNE will implement comprehensive interventions that include livelihood and market system strengthening. 

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Develop detailed implementation plans for the project, covering budget, activities, procurement, timelines, resource needs, and team roles. Clearly communicate these plans to project staff through training and dissemination of information.
  • Assist in selecting beneficiaries according to the established criteria and ensure high-quality data collection during assessments.
  • Facilitate and participate in training sessions for selected youth beneficiaries on entrepreneurship and business development.
  • Oversee and guide the execution of activities and budget management in collaboration with internal staff, government offices, and the community, ensuring alignment with the proposal, Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP), and GNE strategies.
  • Develop and distribute monthly and weekly work plans/tasks based on the approved project plans, providing guidance and follow-up with staff and updating relevant stakeholders.
  • Integrate considerations such as gender, protection, safeguarding, accountability, and environmental impact into the design, implementation, and monitoring of programs.
  • Prepare and submit activity reports on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis, detailing activities, indicators, and achievements.
  • Collaborate closely with GNE logistics, finance, and grant staff to ensure timely and compliant program activities and expenditures, actively participating in procurement, grant, and other meetings.
  • Engage in GNE and external working groups and communities of practice on livelihoods to share strategies, research, program successes, discuss challenges, and exchange best practices.
  • Adhere to the GNE Code of Conduct and zero tolerance policy for Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), uphold humanitarian principles, and contribute to the integration of Protection and Age, Gender, and Diversity (AGD) mainstreaming into GNE programming.
  • Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the line supervisor.

Qualifications and Background:

  • BA in development studies, economics, sociology/social work, and other related social science fields;
  • With minimum of 4 years related working experience, 
  • NGO experience is preferable.

Required Languages – English and Amharic

Skills:

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills;
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake assigned responsibilities and work under pressure;
  • An excellent team player;
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, including relevant staff working for the GNE;
  • Computer literate, especially Microsoft Work, Excel databases, and PowerPoint;
  • Well organized, pays attention to details, and has some analytical skills
